Firing order is 1342 --- Order on the Coil Pack is 4,1,2,3 -- Line the plug wires up in that order starting at one end of the coil pack, if that doesn't work, start at the other end of the coil pack with the same 4,1,2,3 order. Cyl. #1 on the engine is closest to the crankshaft pulley (and all other pulleys) -- Disregard the firing order at this point, it will only add to the confusion. Stick to the 4,1,2,3 order for lining up the plug wires

best of all posts on the D-tec
    very good !
all we need is where is #1 (l or right)
    (the one that runs? sure)

  • Anonymous Aug 23, 2015

    its #1 rear.
    1423
guessing works, 1/2 time, 1 rear works 1 front not.

  • Anonymous Aug 23, 2015

Honda's had this back in 1970. its not new just to GM.

Hi Anonymous, real name is gas J20 engine
and is all are 1,3,4,2
USA answers me, only! or canada.
not boxer pan-cake engines seen on Subaru's or vw air heads.

are you timing cam
or pulled 4 HV wire sets from the coil pack?
oops lost the firing order you did
the NGK coil packs most times are marked for orders
1 pack 4 HV lugs,

UMP sells it and marks it like this.
sold at rockauto.

called wasted spark technology. marked.clear on this pack
the PCM dictates order. and the coil

My 2004 Pontiac Aztec/rally has a different firing order stamped om the coil packs. They are from left to right standing in front of car they are 523641. Why am I getting different order?

This is not the firing order that is stamped on the coil packs.
Coils are matched by 2 pairs of cylinders for ignition spark plugs and coils system.
1- Like 5 2 and 3 6 and 4 1
2- Pairs of 2 cylinders are firing at the same time.
3- When cylinder number 5 fire at ( Power Cycle) the cylinder number 2 fire but in ( Exhaust Cycle ). That is why you have those number stamped on the coil packs.

Hope it helps.

No power to ignition coil

2004 Suzuki Forenza , so say title.
what engine?, 2.0L or out side usa with 5 engines used.
power to.,.

  1. check fuses yet, that be first. (all electrics that.)
  2. scan it next to see DTC errors related to IGN COIL.????
  3. RTM , the manual is 4 bucks read that yet?

https://suzukipitstopplus.com/Products/1027-2004-forenza-service-manual.aspx

so are you saying there is no spark on all 4 cylinders.
that be first, 1 &4 dead or 2 &3 dead. (coil pack pairs, not with wires scrambled, they most not be connected WRONG)

if only 1 pair fail we have a cure.
if all 4 die, other ,,, see?
tests matter, doing all tests on wasted spark, tells you whats up.
test with 2 spark plugs. new.
shells gounded.
1 and 4
then 2 and 3. pairs.
all 4 fail, or just 1 pair? a key fact. on all wasted spark systems.

if you scan and get DTC shows, cmp dead, ckp dead or
ignitor 1 dead, well, ???? do you>?
coil pack
if pin 2 is 0v, cranking
the fuse EF10 is blown or the pump relay open.

to fix cars like this, you need the book, the schematic,
as seen here.
the ecu fires the hidden coil pack drivers.
if one plug goes open , you lose 2 cylinders
if one HV wire goes open, same.
see?
if one HV wire shorts to ground only THAT cylinder goes dead.

pin 86 is 12vdc cranking
pin 85 , the ECU grounds this pin to send power to the coil pack.
pin 30 is obvious, 12vdc all the time.

Need firing order for 2004 vw polo 1.6. also which terminal is#1 on the coil pack

1,3,4,2 on all 4 banger,unless boxer engines
ah, didng change them 1 by one, you bad boy.
ok most coil packs are marked. (wasted spark)
did you look at both,? old and new for marks

2 coils ,1 back and 1 coil runs 2 cylinders wasting spark
on exhaust stroke.

alldata.com, log in (did you Google this first)
or go to rockauto.com see all packs zoom in and luck out
and see the marks?
Nah, just looked, not there

fist google hit lands on fixya
http://www.fixya.com/cars/t20217864-need_correct_firing_order_volkswagen

but id not trust that but you could just guess
its just 4 wires.
after all 2 ways works, (will run if coil is backwards)

try 1 and 4 on one end
the 1 and 4 on other end. see my drift

1 fires on compression TDC
while 4 fires at exhuast TDC (called wasted spark)
then put the other 2 wires in any order
it will start.

if serious, alldata.com had the answer every time.
one stop and bingo.

the plugs are gang fired, in pairs. is the trick here.

I need the firing order of a 2004 Ford F150 5.4, 3 valve. I have to remove coil pack e.

The firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Just to give you a heads up there is no coil pack. It a coil on plug design meaning each individual spark plug has a coil on it.
