The lock does not work on the drivers side door....all other electric locks work....this door will open manually but stays in the locked position. What could be causing this ?

This is what I found out. The problem was with the power lock portion of the part (siezed). It is also sealed and unserviceable. The good news is that the part was in stock at the dealer for around 65.00. Actually pretty amazing considering how many parts there are to the device. After disassembling the door three times (once to diagnose, once to take apart and disable the power lock function, and one last time to swap out mechanism) I became fairly quick at it. If you have this problem, just go buy the part and don't mess around. Oh yeah-you'll need a torx bit to get started.....
The door latch mechanism has to be replaced. the door panel has to be removed and the part has to be unbolted and the wires disconnected.pretty simple if you take your time and and have the right tools.

I have the same problem on my 2005 Ram 1500 QC. Drivers side door stays in the locked position. It can only be opened from the inside but returns to the locked position after the handle is released. All of the others doors work fine.
I have the same problem on my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 QC 4x4. Worked fine when I locked it, and upon return wouldn't unlock or open from outside. All other doors work fine. It's only the drivers side that has to be opened from the inside. At first I thought maybe someone tried to break into it, but after looking closely, I seen no evidence of that.
I have a 2005 Ram 1500 also, and recently i'm not able to open door from the outside, unlock the door with the key, or pull up the door lock from the inside....i have to open it from the back door.

i have the same problem on my ram 1500 hemi drivers door the problem is with the actual latch itself the latch and locking mech. is all one part and its sealed im looking 4 a replacement

I have an 04 Ram 3500-same problem occured to me the other day. Cant open with key. Only can open door from inside. If keyless entry fails. I'll have to break into truck since there is only a key on drivers door. Hasn't anyone got this problem fixed? I'm only second day into it and it's driving me nuts! Afraid to go to dealer...probably tell me its a 500.00 fix. I'm going in to fix myself.......let's see what happens.

Exactly what happened to me yesterday. Only entry is from the inside. The other 3 doors - 2 rear and passenger doors work fine. I am going to do what zebaba did and get back to you.
