2000 chevy tahoe starts but dies when you give it gas

I have changed the fuel filter, checked the relays and fuses, new MAF and cleaned the idle air control valve, fuel pump seems to be working, the truck will start and idle then dies when you give it gas. After i changed the MAF the check engine light came on. It will start, stay idleing for a while then dies.

SOURCE: 1992 Chevy Silverado idles rough why?

Check your MAP and TP sensors. Your throttle body may be having trouble determining position and is compensating by adjusting RPMs.

SOURCE: Poor Idle, dies at stopsigns

I have used this fix for your problem for 20 years.
Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: fuel gauge bouncing on 2000 chevy tahoe where is fuel pump relay

fuel sending unit is in the tank. this is normal after about 75k miles and up. pump and sending unit are sold together. fuel sloshes from front to rear making the float on the sender rise and fall.

SOURCE: wining or whistling -2000 chevy tahoe

this has several things which could cause this noise. The idler pulley can cause a whining noise also the tensioner. The other item that causes that most often is the actual bearings in the alternator or power steering pump.check pump first for low fluid level.

SOURCE: idles high at start and sometimes durin drvin on 1996 chevy tahoe

P1133 HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Insufficient Switching

A code like this leaves a 50/50 chance that you either have a bad sensor or a real problem. With a high idle, I would lean towards a real problem. I'm surprised you didn't have another code with this one. It sounds like you are running lean due to a vacuum leak. Check all of the rubber lines that come from the intake. If any of these leak, they can cause the issue you are having.

Hard starting rough idle then dies. got it to rev up to 3500 then fell on its face and died

This is complex to diagnose. Here are possibilities:

Here are some possible causes and solutions:

Fuel pump relay: A faulty fuel pump relay can cause the fuel pump to stop working intermittently, which can cause the engine to stall. You can check the fuel pump relay by swapping it with another relay of the same type in the fuse box. If the problem goes away, then the relay was the issue. If not, then you can move on to the next possible cause.

Clogged fuel filter: A clogged fuel filter can restrict the flow of fuel to the engine, which can cause the engine to stall. You can check the fuel filter by removing it and blowing air through it. If there is no resistance, then the filter is not clogged. If there is resistance, then you should replace the filter.

Vacuum leak: A vacuum leak can cause the engine to run lean, which can cause the engine to stall. You can check for vacuum leaks by spraying carburetor cleaner around the intake manifold, throttle body, and vacuum lines while the engine is running. If the engine RPMs increase, then there is a vacuum leak.

Faulty idle air control valve: A faulty idle air control valve can cause the engine to stall at idle. You can check the idle air control valve by removing it and cleaning it with carburetor cleaner. If the problem persists, then you should replace the valve.

Faulty throttle position sensor: A faulty throttle position sensor can cause the engine to stall when the throttle is opened. You can check the throttle position sensor by using a multimeter to measure the resistance across the sensor terminals. If the resistance is not within the specified range, then you should replace the sensor.

Faulty mass airflow sensor: A faulty mass airflow sensor can cause the engine to stall when the throttle is opened. You mentioned that you already changed the MAF, but it's possible that the new MAF is also faulty. You can check the MAF by using a multimeter to measure the voltage across the sensor terminals while the engine is running. If the voltage is not within the specified range, then you should replace the sensor.

Faulty ignition coil: A faulty ignition coil can cause the engine to stall when it gets hot. You can check the ignition coil by using a multimeter to measure the resistance across the coil terminals. If the resistance is not within the specified range, then you should replace the coil.

2001chevy Tahoe will start and die right away

There could be several possible reasons for your Chevy Tahoe to start and then die immediately. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Fuel system: Make sure you have enough fuel in the tank and that the fuel pump is functioning properly. Check the fuel filter as well.
  2. Ignition system: Check the ignition system, including the spark plugs, wires, distributor, and ignition coil. Make sure they are all working properly.
  3. Idle air control valve: The idle air control valve (IAC) helps regulate the engine's idle speed. If it's faulty or clogged, it can cause the engine to stall. Check the IAC valve and clean or replace it if necessary.
  4. Mass air flow sensor: The mass air flow (MAF) sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine and helps determine the correct fuel-to-air ratio. If it's dirty or faulty, it can cause the engine to stall. Clean or replace the MAF sensor if needed.
  5. Security system: If your Chevy Tahoe has a factory-installed security system, it may be malfunctioning and preventing the engine from starting. Try resetting the security system and see if that helps.
If you're unable to diagnose and fix the problem on your own, it may be best to take your vehicle to a trusted mechanic or dealership for further diagnosis and repair.

Chevy Tahoe 2000 Z71 won't start!

Just for the record, its a throttle body not a carb.
Sounds like the injectors are not getting power or a ground signal from the computer.
You would check them with a meter or low voltage test light.

My 03 tahoe dies when it comes to a complete stop... I can start it but when I give it gas in the park position and let it come back down to a idle it dies... I have replaced all spark plugs and wires... I...

thats what it sounds like, a bad or clogged up fuel filter. if it bogs down when giving it gas, or going up a hill. its probably the fuel filter not letting enough fuel to engine. that is why it stalls at a stop. if this helps but not fully. check or clean idle air control motor. this is what maintains proper idle of vehicle. have a good day !!

I have a 2001 chevy tahoe wont start

could be as simple as a dirty fuel filter. or maybe the fuel pump has died..i will go with the fuel filter since you were able to get it started again.. also when replacing your fuel filter you should go ahead and get new plugs and wires.. a small tune up wouldnt hurt and would only set you back 100.00 dollers maybe.. hope this helps
