How do you test the fuel pump for a 1997 mercury villager 3.0.

There should be a spout on the upper fuel rail of the engine. It would look like a valve stem on a tire. There are pressure gauges available through the Tool Loaner programs at places like Autozone,Advance, or Oreilys.

But if you just suspect it is not coming on, then check the Inertia switch and push on it to reactivate the circuit. It is located on the dirver's side above the kickpanel.

Your inertia switch (AKA fuel shut-off switch) is located behind the left side of the dash, above the kick panel (pictured below). You have to manually flip the switch back down to reset it.

    2000 mercury villager wont start

Check your inertia switch. This is usually located in the rear interior of the vehicle. It has a reset switch you hold for 3 seconds. It is a safety switch to kill the fuelpump in an accident. Can trip with door closings.
