2003 Jeep Cherokee Door Panel Electrical Issue

The drivers door panel instruments work intermittently. It seems like there is a short in the wiring in the door to control the windows, locks, etc.
When I open the door to a certain point, the electrical will cut in and work, and then other times it will not. When I am driving, there is a clicking noise coming from the panel.
Any ideas before I take it to the dealer?

Hi
i had the same priblem myself, its an easy fix if your any way handy.
the problem is the main power wire to the drivers door is broke or almost broke (due to switches working when door is closed) between the body off the car and the door you will find a rubber boot, slide the boot back from the car body side and you will find that the thick wire is broke due to the door opening and closing all the time. just add a small piece off cable the same gauge about 2inches (to allow movment in rubber boot) and solder both ends to join. that will solve your problem. ive fixed at least 5 off the jeeps with same problem. try it to see.

the black sleeve is difficult to get off but I pinched what was inside and sure enough I tried the locks with the door wide open and it works. i just have to figure out how to remove the sleeve and replace that wire.

Is this the rubber piece with all the wiring inside that pops off the door. There are a few wires inside that are taped together with electrical tape. I've retaped them all, but it is pretty hard to access to see if any others are broken.
Any way to gain better access to check?

Between the door and "A" pillar is the door wiring harness.
You probably have some broken wires there.

On the driver side door control panel windows, door locks, and mirrior stop working.

There is a rubber boot located between the door and the body of the jeep. Pull this boot back and check for wires that have been pinched into. Mine was the thick black wire. Splice it back together with **** connector and black electrical tape. Worked like a charm. This is a common Jeep problem.

Driver side door switches are not working. Dome

My power locks, windows didn't work and the dome lights would not turn off after closing the door. I removed the black boot that was attached to the drivers door by lifting upward and pulling away from the door. A heavy gauge black wire was broken. I removed about 3/16" of insulation from both ends of the broken wire and connected them by using a connector that both ends are placed in to and then "crimped" both ends so the broken wire made contact with each other and everything worked perfectly! The hardest part was replacing the boot. Total cost to fix is $0.50.

2003 GMC Yukon XL All gauges on instrument panel stopped working. They all stopped at 0, including spedometer, rpms, fuel, oil, etc. The electrical odometer is still working. Is this a fuse problem or does...

If this is an intermittent problem,
remove the IPC 10A fuse in the fuse box under the hood,
not in the fuse panel by the driver side door,
for 5 minutes.
The electronics will reset.
