This is a broken wire in the wiring harness in the door opening and is repairable by soldering it back together

  • Anonymous Sep 27, 2011

That's exactly what it was. Though, the wires melted in the door harness they didn't break. I separated and taped then found the broken wire (inside solid insulation).

What would cause the door locks, power windows, wipers, turn signals and blower motor to suddenly stop working intermittently?

Couple of ways to go with this. The first would be a grounding issue. If there is a ground that came off to the fuse panel or even another ground somewhere in electrical would do this. The other place to look into would be the body computer of the vehicle. That is not a cheap fix and may need to be calibrated once in place. Just a start for you here as to what to start with.

DOOR LOCKS BLOWER DOME LIGHT GO OFF AND ON ENGINE STOPS ABRUPTLY

No it could not be haunted, you have a short to ground somewhere emanating from a terminal block where all of these systems come together, most likely near the firewall. This will involve tracing all of these wires. When a wire is shorting to ground it raises the potential difference of ground thus sending a lower voltage to various systems. The only other serious option would be your ecm computer, which is also very likely.

Electric windows not working but locking the doors when you push it

Had the same issue, both doors controls stopped working at the same time making the power windows, power mirrors, and power door locks all stop working. However, when the engine was off the door lock would work. It could be many things, but the fact that they all quit working at the same time suggested it wasn't an individual motor. I pulled the door main control panel and with a wiring diagram checked the continuity of each switch through the electrical plug out back. You can get the diagram off kiatechinfo.com

The main door control turned out to be good (expensive part). It wasn't getting power to the control, which meant it was either a broken power wire or a bad ground interrupting the circuit. The easiest to test was the ground. I ran a small wire from the negative battery and put it in the main ground wire on the back of "main door control panel". Worked perfectly on both doors. Apparently the ground for the door accessories are somewhere on the floor board, they corroded from a leaking sunroof. Never could find the bad ground so i just ran a new ground wire to it from the engine (drill a screw into body and attach wire)

After replacing the Battery in My 2003 ML 350, The radio stop working and the engine starts but do not idle. Does any one know what could be the cause of this problem

It's a Mercedes, so electrical issues are extremely common. The ML especially of that year is about the most problematic car Mercedes ever produced.
It has issues everywhere from short circuits due to the wiring shrouding breaking down over time, to ECMs/ECUs failing without necessarily any good reason to. As there are too many faults on that particular vehicle to mention, it won't be easy to diagnose this one over the internet. You will likely require an auto electrician, and perhaps not even just one workshop to manage all types of issues. My best advice once you've dealt with this one and the vehicle is working is to sell it. You won't stop working on expensive issues with this mark and model.

I wish you lived closer. There has not been a single electrical problem I have not been able to fix. Even electrical problems that has been turned down by several different shops. If you have a digital multimeter I will do my best to guide you, and hope to save you on labor. One good thing about electrical problem is almost all the time you don't need expensive parts unless it is electronic in nature. The bad thing about it is that there is not many mechanic who is good at electrical system. Electrical problem is more of understanding electricity rather than based on experience.

2004 Mazda RX-8 turn car off and remove keys. flashing interior lights, clicking noise from driver rear door. Remove battery cable to make it stop. Help!

The problem is an electrical failure in your circuitry. From Fuse to lights, to the door switches is a complete circuit. It is possible the lock switch is stuck or faulty making the motor keep running. There may be a relay that is sticking open for that door motor. Between the switch and motor if you do have the relay. I would try disconnecting the lock switch on that door first, then if it still occurs try disconnecting lock or window the one on the drivers side. If the problem still occurs, then your looking at a problem in the electrical such as shorted wire somewhere.

2000 Buick lesabre Limited electrical problem This is an intermitent problem which occurs when vehicle is in motion or idling while parked. The warning lights come on the fuel gauge falls to empty the...

From what you have listed , door lock's instrument cluster , radio , HVAC - heating an A/C . An doing it intermittantly an starting to work again after slamming a door or the trunk , I would think a lose ground connection . Most likely in back of the instrument panel somewhere .To be sure , looking at a wiring diagram to see if these thing's share a common ground point . G-200 This would be my first place to look , because everthing that stop's working is grounded here

LH front lower corner of the passenger compartment on the LH front door pillar . You will probably need to remove the plastic kick panel . Do you know what i"m talking about . If not there have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , BCM , IPC , HVAC control panel .

Honda 2001 ex stopped running and steering locked up

you say stopped running steering locked up the steering lock is mechanical and has nothing to do with the actually running of the engine so i am presumming that the car was idling stalled on its own and the steering as you tried to restart it locked or the steering won,t turn it won,t if the engine s not running as it is helped by the power steering pump which doesn,t work unless then engines running but if the steering has just locked up then you won,t be able to turn the steering in which case you,ll need a new steering lock not that big a job yates210456
