Gas/Petrol gets old!

Hydrocarbon fuels get old, they go off and eventually go gummy. If you have any machine that is going to be stored for a period exceeding two months, drain the fuel from the tank and make sure that any components in the fuel path are cleared out. If possible work an inhibiting fluid into the system - these are commercially available. If the engine has been standing for a long period, the whole fuel system must be cleaned out, not just drained and refilled. The carb must be stripped and often a new carb kit installed. Metal parts are best cleaned with Lacquer Thinners, but do not let the solvent get onto rubber seals and diaphragms.
The cleaning of the system is essential, but the prevention of a potential problem is better.

My 2001 Monte Carlo is idolingg funny(the rpm gauge is fluttering)and some times it will die. I thought it might be dirty fuel injectors or a gummy throtal body.and now it won't start period! Pls help

There are a number of possibilities here. Oil that is very old (high mileage) will become hydrocarbon contaminated over time. This can have a gasoline-like smell. There could be a problem with the piston rings allowing fuel the run down the cylinder walls into the crankcase. This can also occur in an engine that has a misfiring cylinder since the fuel is not being burned. Lastly, a leaky fuel injector can be flooding a cylinder, either when running, or after vehicle shutdown and before the fuel pressure bleeds off. This fuel will lay in the cylinder and eventually leaking into the crankcase, contaminating the oil.

Stored 2007 Toyota solara turns over great but won't fire
when store a vehicle with ethanol gas the gas can evaporate and the gas gauge can get stuck. first see if it has a fuel filter. if it does change it and then you need to go to the fuel valve. take the cap off and take a small flat head screw driver press in on the fuel valve. if fuel comes out and it does not crank then you have a firing issue. make sure after you change the fuel filter to cycle the key 4 times to the on off position so the filter can fill up with fuel. if that does not work then you have a firing problem. you may need to put some good gas in on top of the old fuel.

2002 vw passat....starts fine and drives fine....periodically stalls when braking for stop..this happens after a few miles of driving and is hard to get going again but will start and if reved up a bit I can get it to move without stalling again....I am getting randoim misfires on all cylinders and fault codes 1) 17887 brake booster: vac system mechanical failure (intermittent) 2) 17536 fuel trim; bank 1 system too lean upper limit exceeded (intermittent) 3) 16486 mass air flow sensor (G70): signal too low, lower limit exceeded (intermittent) 4) 17544 fuel trim; bank 1 (add) system too lean, upper limit exceeded MIL ON 5) 16825 EVAP emission conbtrol system: incorrect flow, upper limit exceeded (intermittent) Any Ideas??? I have replaced the secondary O2 Sensor and plugs so far. Thanks
It appears that your brake booster system has a major vacuum leak which is causing the engine to go lean and stall. Check the hose between the intake manifold and the brake booster. It may be cracked or loose causing outside air to enter the hose when the brake is applied.

not getting fuel
If the car sat for a year then the fuel pump might be stuck. Have someone try to start it while you smack on the bottom of the gas tank until you hear the pump run.
