1989 Toyota Corolla 2 Door - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Hi, my car today failed
Go to AutoZone or Kragen and get a $9.00 bottle of PASS ANY SMOG TEST or double
your money back (keep your receipt). You just pour it into your gas tank at a FILL UP and run
that gas down then refill your tank and take your Smog Test. It will pass. What state are you in??
What are your smog test numbers??
MikNas in California
Why won't my horn work?
the horn is located behind the bumper, you will need a test light to
test for voltage at teh horn connections, if there is 12 volts at horn
connections, this means th horn is faulty.
if the horn is okay, check the horn relay - and if that is okay it could be the horn pad inside the car.
But it will most likely be the horn itself that is faulty.
Ask your local garage / mechanic if you are lost!!!

Water pump and timing belt removal
you could always jam the flywheel with a bolt inserted between the ring gear and the transmission housing, be sure to tie the bolt to something outside the engine so when it falls in the housing you can retrieve it back without ease. or you can always bring it to me. my email

1989 toyota corrola hatch, headlights not working
Hi,
The headlights just might be a fuse/relay problem, switch or wiring. It would be needed to check for the presence of +12VDC from the fuse, headlight switch, relay, 3 terminal connector. Of course the bulbs themselves must be checked.
Taillight gone on braking indicates loose ground on the rearlight assembly. A temporary workaround is to provide another grounding screwed to the body of the car.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
