If you have a manual transfer case, you have to lock the front hubs, Turn the dials on the front hubs from "FREE" to "LOCK". The manual transfer case is "shift-on-the-fly". This means you can shift between 2HI and 4HI and back while moving. You must be stopped to shift from 4HI to 4LO or from 4LO to 4 HI. With automatic hubs the above answer will work. To disengage the auto hubs take it out of 4 wheel drive and drive in reverse for around 10 feet.

You have a very dangerous condition. Do not start engine. Problem is in fuel injection system. Probably cold start valve stuck wide open and dumping excessive gas in system. Have car TOWED to shop. Bill

ISUSU? no must be 12,000 miles away down under? a HOLDEN car, you never told makers name, wrong fuse size, only use correct size. the ECU can short easy if CAPS inside short and 2006 to 8 was a bad year for caps. called he CAP Plague so unplug ECU and see if fuse holds can be bad wiring, harness. or damage from rodents. ROO'S? LOL seen vast ecu short me, for sure 1995 to 2010. caps go bad. electrolytic type. the leak, split open or explode too. some only short as car hits bumps, never fun this\ hey good luck downunder ! it's 100f here.

My 97 Rodeo had the same problem. No Tail lights, no. Dash lights. There is also an annoying buzzer that goes with the set telling you the lights are on, there is no key in the ignition and your door is open. (you don't notice it when it's gone but you sure notice it when it's back)The Fuse (taillight Illum) was good, The Light relay under the hood was good and all bulbs were good.What fixed this problem was replacing the tail light relay which is located in a panel just to the left of the brake pedal also called the kick panel.Inside there are 3 relays. I replaced the one in the middle and got everything to work. If you need to identify the relay you can put your hand over it and then turn the lights on and off. The correct relay should click. Mine was the middle one. Hope this helps someone because it stumped me for months.

There was a revised Transfer Case Control Module for this lock up condition that affected up to August 2003 built & VIN # MPATFS77H4H510581,possibly your vehicle, part number 8973684490 is the newer revised one. Before replacing module they should have checked the limit switches on side of transfer case, gear box and dont forget the one on the front axle, for loss of continuity. Your battery is probably dead, you should charge it if you can but if you need to "jump" it leave the cables connected to the running jump vehicle for 10 minutes before you attempt to start it then when it's time turn the switch on then off then start it the first turn of the ignition will reboot your computer after losing power.
