I would ask hard questions on this one I paid almost a thousand dollars for an extended warranty on a used car and six weeks later I had to tow the car in. If your saying when the problem is ongoing, the starter motor won't crank the engine, if you'll post model year, I'll try to post wiring diagram for starter motor, sometimes we can bypass everything just to see if starter motor will crank the engine? Any testing at starter motor make sure transmission is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Vehicle can't move.

Im not sure if your fuse box looks like the screenshot however if it does I would at your own risk turn this switch off and back on as suggested in the other photo.
Again I am not a mechanic, I do however try to give the best advice I can.
