My fiat Punto 1.4 2015 having a problem which is when we are going on road up to 3rd gear it's going smoothly but when I put 4th gear there is an error gear unavailable what I have to do?
If you are experiencing an issue with your Fiat Punto where the 4th gear is unavailable and you receive an error message indicating so, it is likely a problem with the transmission system. Here are a few steps you can take to address the issue:
1. Check the transmission fluid: Ensure that the transmission fluid is at the correct level and in good condition. Low or contaminated fluid can cause problems with gear shifting. Refer to your vehicle's manual for instructions on how to check the transmission fluid level and condition.
2. Inspect the clutch system: A faulty clutch can also lead to gear shifting issues. Check if the clutch pedal feels normal when you press it, and observe any unusual noises or vibrations during gear engagement. If there are any abnormalities, it might be necessary to have the clutch system inspected and repaired by a professional mechanic.
3. Reset the transmission control module (TCM): Sometimes, a simple reset of the TCM can resolve minor glitches or errors. Disconnect the car battery for about 15 minutes, then reconnect it. This action will reset the TCM and may clear any temporary faults.
4. Scan for error codes: Visit a reputable mechanic or an authorized Fiat service center to have the car's onboard diagnostic system scanned for error codes. The error codes can provide insight into the specific problem and guide the mechanic in their troubleshooting and repairs.
5. Seek professional assistance: If the issue persists or you are unable to diagnose the problem yourself, it is recommended to consult a qualified mechanic or a Fiat dealership. They will have the necessary expertise and equipment to accurately diagnose the issue and carry out any required repairs or adjustments.
Injector light on with no power
You will need to get a good mechanic to look at this. This sounds like the vehicle has gone into "Limp Mode". This is where the ECU has detected something in the electronics that is listed as serious and it restricts the engine to prevent more damage.
Does the vehicle start and run? Can you get access to the injector? There is a simple test you can do if you can get to the injectors. All you need is an extra long screwdriver or something similar. *Note* The engine will be running when you do this so be careful. Try this.
Start the engine. Press the tip of the screwdriver against the first injector. Put your ear to the handle, *Note* it will be louder than you expect. You're listening for a fast, even, regular ticking noise. Get a helper to GENTLY press the accelerator pedal to listen for any change in the sound. Repeat this method for each of the other injectors. If the sound is uneven or sounds wrong to you get a good mechanic to check to see if that injector needs replacing.
