IC 103 CX7961 stopt to oscillate after ~30s ...
so the plls ref was out
I changed it without results
In fact the plastic trimmer C138 (4-20pf) was bad???( insulation?)
Since changing (10 years ago) : no problem

Don't continue powering it up. The hum is the transformer that powers the circuits. There is a failed electronic component which is causing the audio to be absent. The radio this was copied from was a tube radio and none of the original components are the same in this solid state copy. The problem is most likely in the audio amplifier section of the circuit board, but being most likely surface mounted components like all modern manufactured radios finding and isolating the fault will cost you more than buying a replacement.

I have been searching as well, to date, it still won't power on even after replacing the battery, getting a charger and charging the old battery. I also used the reset button and no help. I asked Grundig / Eton for help a couple of times and no response. Very disappointing, it is like Grundig isn't around any more or won't support their own products any more.

I searched the internet, and only saw the complete working radio for sale by three different vendors. Parts are often taken from broken radios to be used as replacements, but I didn't see a broken one. The prices ranged from $20 to $100. FIXYA unpaid volunteers answer questions for free, and there is no guarantee that someone will know the answer to any particular question. Often a manufacturer web site will have the answer someone needs but that requires the search of the internet to find it. Sorry to report the lack of an easy quick answer to your problems with the radio.

It would need to be opened up to remove any salts or other things in the water. If the toilet water contained any flush additives they could have attacked the internal parts. In which case I think it would become very costly to repair. If it is just a case of stuff causing a short circuit, then a clean and dry should solve it.
