My freezer in my side by side refridgerator has frost developing around the ice maker. There appears to be a leak somewhere. Any ideas as to the cause of the frost? No matter where I set the temp, frost develops and always around the ice maker only.

Is the compressor running continuously, or clicking on and off, or not running at all?

If the water leak is down the back or ctr its the drain line going to the underside of the fridge. If its down the side where the ice maker is its the ice make is not level if no ice maker your tray under the freezer may be leaking instead of draining.

Mike, check your ice door chute in the freezer door to make sure it is closing all the way. Ice/frost buildup is usually a sign of warm air getting into the unit from somewhere. If you identify that as your culprit, let me know and I can try to help you with installing replacement parts if you'd like.

there is only 2 things if you dont have an ice maker inside your door is not sealing all the way around or the drain is cloged with ice and everytime the ref goes into defrost the water leak into the fzr unplug for 2 days that shoud fix it

WAS IT LEAKING FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER OR FROM BOTTOM OF FRIDGE? ONCE IN A WHILE YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE ICE BIN AND DUMP ICE OUT AND CLEAN IT. HOW CAN THE ICE MACHINE OVERFLOW WITH ICE WHEN THE ICE IN THE TRAY WON'T BUDGE? NEED CLARIFICATION. SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD ICE MAKER MODULE OR THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE ON THE WATER VALVE IS BAD.

Hello, your refridgerator in most likely in defrost cycle. the noise your hearing is the water dripping on the hot heater and ice dropping off the evaporator. should only last 15 minutes and then your all set. Mike

Sounds like your freezer is pulling outside air into the freezer from the dispenser door or around the door seals. This could be a defrost problem beginning as this is moisture remaining inside the freezer compartment and not being taken out during defrost. So it may be a good idea to look into the back of the freezer and see if there is frost forming also on the rear wall. If yes you will need to manually defrost by unplugging the refrigerator and removing the rear panel in the back of freezer to expose the evaporator coil. If frozen over I want you to defrost with a hair dryer until we can have a look at the defrost heater below these coils. The heater in your model PSS26MRSS has glass around the heating elements and will be easy to see if the element is burned out. If burned out the defrost heater part number WR51X10055 and the defrost thermostat part number WR50X10068 should be replaced. Let me know if you are ready to begin or if this is helpful. Check to see if you have frost on the back panel of your freezer in your fridge. If you do your coil is frozen over and you'll have to defrost your freezer. I just did mine cause mine wasn't cooling properly on my fridge side. If it is that it's going to fill the pan under your fridge and overflow.

Frost is due to outside air leaking into unit. Check on back wall to see if hole for ice maker fill tube is still plugged. If not and you have no ice maker cover hole with tape. Also look for water or ice build up in bottom of freezer or ref. sections. May have a plugged drain. Let me know what you find.

Normally the frost is taken away during defrost so if things get worse we need to look at the defrost timer.If freeze temps.begin to rise let me know, Thanks JT
