Gateway M305CRV PC Notebook Won't Boot

I power up the laptop and the only thing happens is the fan comes on and the four lights including the hard drive just keep blinking.

    m305cvr processor fan comes on 3 lights on power board no beeps no lcd dvd does not operate and pretty sure hard drive not operating and i even put another hard drive in the laptop and same thing

Remove system battery and power cord.

Remove the keyboard screws, flip KB toward front. Then you will see a small battery, remove the battery for about 30 seconds then replace.

After battery and KB replaced power on unit.

My problem seemed to have been the DVD/CD drive

Tookoff bracket that screws drive in place, Working again !

Maybe bracket was shorting against something....

When powered on, the power button lights up; so
try using a can of air, or air compressor to blow the dust out of the bottom of the lap top, try restarting it and see if it powers up, fan only comes on right away if there is a big dust build up, this should fix it

Will not power on when power button is pressed
1st check your power cord to make sure it is plugged in good and where you have it plugged in has power going to it. remove your battery, cdrom and hard drive then see if it will power on. you can see if your power adapter has the power light coming on.

Gateway laptop ml3108b no screen coming on
this is a common fault with this laptop, the only way to repair this is to strip the laptop, remove the mother board, heatsink and fan under the heatsink you will see the nvidia chip this needs to be heated to 480C for about 5 mins only heat the nvidea chip nothing else! paste chips and replace heatsink fan etc laptop should now be fixed, remember to clean fan whilst it is out as a clogged fan probably caused the fault in the first place

Sounds like a hard drive issue. Take the hard drive out and put it back in again and try it. Hope that helps.

Gateway laptop powers up but screen does not come up.
See if you can attach an external monitor to your laptop.If you can and you can see your display on the monitor the it is a faulty laptop screen .If you see nothing on the x monitor then the graphic card/chip is fried.

Booting
Has the fan been replaced? If not then the laptop will power itself off to protect from overheating. The fan is like a switch in the loop. Like old Xmas lights. One not working then none will work.
