How to start in safe mode?

While the computer is initially booting up, press F8 (repeatedly if necessary), you should be presented with a selection screen to boot into safe mode (various levels such as with or without networking) or to boot normally. The F8 key only works while the computer is going through the BIOS startup procedure.

My Hp Pavilion dv5000 crashed! XP cd displays error message!

If you are facing this issue while installing Windows, Most probably there is an issue with the memory card. If you have two memory modules try to use one of the memory modules in each slot at a time. If you have only one memory stick then try to use it one by one on each slot. If you it does not work then probably you might have to replace the memory stick.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Battery with HP Pavillion DV5000 won't work. Do I need to replace the battery or is there a battery charger I could use to recharge the battery? Dianne

You can order a power cable online or pick one up at your local computer store. They should run between $80-150. The battery itself is very expensive to purchase but is rechargeable.

I/O error. HP 1720n won't boot

Run diagnostics on the hard drive (Normally provided either in the F8 or F12 boot menus) and se if you get a failure.

If the drive passes diagnostics, boot to the Vista DVD and run the repair option. (Note: you may have to the Vista repair process 4 or 5 times if there are multiple errors to be resolved)
