When i power on my receiver it will play fine for about 10 minutes and then the unit will power off on its own. I can turn it back immediately but it will do the same thing over and over again. What is my problem?

There could be the result of an overload on the system. check to make sure the connections on the back of your receiver are all secure and the polarity is matched. black to black or black to ( - ) and red to red or red to ( + ) follow each wire to the speaker it is attached to ensuring no damage has occurred. if this is not the problem try disconnecting everything but your speakers and power and try starting the system up on its own. if this works then you have to attach your peripherals one by one to determine the source of the problem. if after running the system solo it shuts off again it would appear to be an internal issue and i would take it back to the store for service.

Receiver doesn't play sound until it's warmed up 5 - 10 minutes

Unfortunately, your question has too many variables. Try this. Unplug the unit. Plug it back in. When you first push the power button, you should immediately hear one mechanical click from the unit, followed by a second click with 5-10 seconds. If you don't hear the second click, the unit may have a condition known as DC Offset. It would be unusual to have DC Offset only within the first 5-10 minutes. It's possible that power supply has an issue where both the positive and negative voltages are not coming up at the same time.

Turn unit on, display flashes for 1 second, then

It could be that the amp's overload protection circuit is being triggered by a feedback loop or other problem, such as a shorted or bad cable connection.
Turn off the power and unplug the receiver. Look for problems, starting with shorted speaker wires or cables. Then make sure the receiver's not still hot (wait 5-10 minutes to let it cool), and remove obstructions or anything blocking the top vents. If you didn't find anything, think again about what the problem might be (and maybe taking it to a repair shop) before going to the next step.
Plug it back in and power up again. Before the delayed speaker amp output clicks on, immediately change the Source selector to something unconnected, and turn the Volume DOWN just in case there's a feedback loop (hum/squeal/noise that can overload things and cause the protection circuit to trip again). If you can see the display, go to a low level (around -50dB should be fine). Then carefully switch back to the problem source -- if that's the problem, switch off again immediately and re-check all of the cable connections at both ends, the receiver and the source component.
Make sure you don't have a feedback loop due to a recording device feeding back a signal. All VCRs and CD/DVD-recorders should be hooked up to the VCR, DVR or TAPE/CD-R "IN/OUT" jacks with IN being connected to the cables marked OUT on the deck and vice versa. (That confuses even us experienced guys sometimes!)
Also, no MONITOR video or audio outputs should be connected to the recording decks, nor should the TV outputs be fed back to the recorders. The same goes for the digital IN/OUT jacks for CD recorders; use only the same number IN as OUT for each component (For example, Optical IN/OUT #4 and #5 are the two digital IN/OUT pairs on the Denon AVR-380X series.)

Sound turns on and off intermittantly through unit

You may have a bad protection relay or solder joint at the relay mount position. This relay prevents power supply "thumps" when the unit is first turned on, and also shuts the amp down when there is an overload problem....accordianman

Onkyo TX-DS575 turns off after about 10 min.

it could be a failing speaker causing the fault. Disconnect one speaker and run it to see if the problem persists and repeat with a different speaker until all speakers have been disconnected and the unit run to failure. If it stays ok, with a particular spkr off, it's the speaker. If it shuts down no matter which ones disconnected, it's probably a crack on the PCB which expands as it heats and causes shutdown.

Reciever turning off.

You have a short in the speaker wiring. Simply put, the pos and neg (red/black ends) of your speaker wire are most likely touching somewhere. The receiver has a short protection circuit that keeps you from blowing the receiver or your speakers. Either try re-cutting the ends of the speaker wire, or if that doesn't remedy the issue, buy new speaker wire.
