That's likely a timing chain that's stretched past the limits of the autotensioner. Usually means a top end rebuild.

Shower faucet chatter

it probably needs a air hammer addition. you could buy one or make one buy adding a inline "T" a short piece of pipe and a cap. which help balance pressure.

As im driving my bike the clatter comes in around 3000 rpm and gets louder ans faster as i gain rpm. could it need valve adjustment? or what kind of problem does it sound like im having. its a 99 yamaha r1

if its valve chatter you will hear it just under the valve cover pretty pronounced, but usually valve chatter gets quieter as the bike warms up, you might look into your cam chain adjuster those get loud and chatty at higher rpms.

Any chance the valve spring has collapsed? Cam shaft thrust washers missing? Cam shaft bearing gone bad?

High pitch howling/whirring in engine

Very important. When tentioners, (primary & secondary cam chain tentioners) where replaced. Did they update bearing support plate bearings, and even more IMPORTANTLY.
INA Inner Cam Bearings removed and replaced with Torringtons?

If not you are about to experiance a broken oil pump body, feed & return gears for pump. And either new cases (3,500 bucs) Or repair, which I'm unsure of cost. Haven't gotton bill yet. Wish I could add pics.Unbeleavable what needle bearings can do to. Waiting for cases to come back... Customer took this as his opportunity to custom build A MONSTER of a motor.
When INA bearings are chattered they do make a whirring noise.
