I have a 1999 Chrysler 300m 3.5 that is leaking oil. There is no obvious source from the engine, though it is possible. The car overheated last year and I had the dealer replace water pump and timing belt. It was still overheating and they had to do something to the lines on top of the engine. (I live in Europe and it is not clear exactly in the translation what has been done, but it did not involve taking off the head.) Anyway, the overheating problem was solved and it's been almost a year since that happened. So the strange thing with this leak is that the oil is primarily being seen in the area between the air compressor and the battery. There is actually oil on top of the compressor. Now this is right under the dipstick, and near the oil fill, but both of those appear solid. I was thinking it might be possible that oil is leaking from somewhere else onto the compressor belt and it is flinging it toward the battery as it goes around the pulley, but the belt doesn't appear to have any noticeable oil on it or the pulley. Does anyone have any idea what could cause the oil to appear in this area. Some of it is dripping on the exhaust, and I'm worried about eventual fire, so I'm having a mechanic look at it (local Chrysler dealer has closed), and would like to be armed with information if necessary. If it were the head or a gasket, would it not be overheating, and pasty oil (oil appears clear). Exhaust also appears normal. Any thoughts are appreciated.

CK- Try a set of Valve Cover Gaskets. It cannot leak from the front cover area because it is where the timing belt rides and there is no entrance into the engine EXCEPT the front CAM SEAL... Remove the cover and look toward that seal behind the cam sprocket. If so it is also leaking down into the front cover and beyond. But look at the Valve cover gasket first, since you mention that source.

Leaking oil out think its the freeze plugs

"freeze plugs" actually are installed in a block to seal off the holes where the stuffing that is put into the casting gets removed. The stuffing is what forms the water jackets that cool the engine.
That said, there is no way a freeze plug can ever leak oil because they only cover water passages.
Keep looking and you will find the actual leak source!!

Overheating even when heat is on but they ckecked and have no leaks and fan does run

When is the last time you replaced your thermostat? If it hasn't been replaced within a year chances are it's siezed, blocking total flow of coolant.

If its leaking its a seal. It also could be your fan isn't working properly too. Hope this helps!?

1999 300m chrysler have emission control system leak

That is an evap system leak.

The evap system controls recirculation of fuel vapor in the engine intake manifold .
Check first the fuel cap, ensure that is well closed, then remove and inspect it.

Have a vacuum test done, or test for vacuum leaks using a Vacuum/Fuel Pump Tester Kit
If there is no leak, then the problem can be a storage canister or a defective purge solenoid.

Oil light comes on, then engine ticks, then car cuts off

When you got stuck in the snow did it impact hard (quick stop or small drop like a deeper ditch)? If this is the case it could be the sending unit might have been dammaged in some way. I would have the shop take a look at.
