How do i copy and paste on acer c7 chromebook

"to copy and paste a paragraph" - I just used my c7 to copy the prior phrase from you the text in your question and to paste it into this "add your solution" answer box. Here's how I did it...... 1-I placed the cursor in front of the word "to", and while holding the touchpad down with my left finger, swiped the cursor through the phrase to the end of the word "paragraph" (thereby highlighting the desired phrase), then lifted both hands. 2- With the cursor over the end of the highlighted phrase, I used my left finger to hold down the "alt" key to the left of the touchpad the clicked the touchpad causing the drop-down copy menu to appear, then lifted both hands. 3-I then used the touchpad to move the cursor over the word "copy" in the drop-down menu and clicked the touchpad.
4-Then I placed the cursor in this "answer" text-box clicked once once. Next I held down the "alt" key to the left of the touchpad and clicked the touchpad to cause the "paste" drop-down menu to appear and raised both hands. Finally I moved the cursor over the word "paste" in the drop-down menu and clicked the touchpad, thereby successfully copying and pasting the phrase from your question. PS - an alternative to holding the left alt key and clicking to get the drop-down menu is to place two fingers on the touchpad (about a half inch apart) and click with both fingers simultaneously. The latter method only works about 75% of the time for me, so I recommend using the alt key.

Asus netbook cursor stuck

Make sure there is not a lock on the top middle of the touchpad that you can press to toggle the lock/unlock. if so, press it. Otherwise I would try booting up in safe mode and see if the cursor locks.

Cursor locks in middle of screen and unable to move it

One possible reason is that you might have locked your trackpad. HP along with many other laptops have a designated button that locks your touchpad so the cursor doesn't move on the screen.
Above your keypad there's a small little rectangular button. Try pressing it and it should unlock your trackpad.
Give this a shot, and I hope it works!

My laptop cursor is frozen

Make sure that the power button for the touchpad wasn't pressed and disabled the touchpad. If after pressing it once you still cannot move the cursor, perform a restart and then when it is powered up and connected to the internet check websites for a free firmware update.

Touchpad not working

Touchpads have a cursor lock that suspend the use of the touch pad but allow you to use a mouse. Ensure that the cursor lock is not on. That lock is a thin strip just about the touch pad. Usually, it will light up when it's turned on. If you have that lock in the off position then I would not recommed that you go probing inside your laptop to relsove this issue. You should take your laptop to a qualified tech for repair.

You might have accidently turned off the touchpad software or driver. Use the RESTORE section of SYSTEM TOOLS in the ACCESSORIES folder of your Program Files.

Good Luck, and Happy Computing.

How do I partially lock my touch pad so that my palm doesn't screw things up when I type and accidentally touch the pad?

If you look at your touchpad, you will notice a small elongated button, right above it. When you push the button, it will lock the touchpad. However, it will lock it entirely, until you unlock it. You will not be able to move the cursor or click on anything. I don't think HPs have the ability to "partially" lock the touchpad. At least, I was never told anything about it while I was working for them.

"sticky" mouse on compaq laptop

Unless your left mouse button has been severely damaged, it is unlikely that a loose button is the cause of your problem. More likely, it is your touchpad. Chances are your touchpad is set to click when tapped. Oversensitive touchpads can click randomly when you're dragging your finger across the touchpad.

To test this, position your cursor over a link (or other button) but don't press the left mouse button. Instead, lightly tap the touchpad itself. If the link or button is clicked, go to your Control Panel and adjust the Mouse options so your touchpad no longer clicks when tapped. It's usually a setting titled "tap to click" or something along those lines.
