LG KG800 Chocolate the graphics reverse when sliding open the phone. This locks the phone altogether and in order to turn it off the battery needs to be removed and reinsterted. Any ideas on what this may be and if its worth repairing?

You can follow the below procedure :-

To Unlock KG800/LG Chocolate
1. Insert sim from the network that it is locked to.
2. Turn on phone
3. On home Screen, Slide up phone
4. Type 2945#*#
5. ENG. Mode menu should appear
6. Go Down to Factory Reset Select it, may take a few minutes to reset!!!!!
7. This will reset the phone back to before the Phone was locked to a network
8. The phone will automaticaly Restart(Note The Network Logo At start up will not change)
9. Now insert Any simcard(Not tested with 3 sims)and the phone should turn on normaly
10. The phone is now unlocked and you can customise the setting as you like.

Do you mean unlocking the phone screen (like you forgot your security password), or unlocking the phone to use a SIM from a different network?

there are 2 possible problems

1. hardware problem

2. software problem

You can try to update the firmware from the LG website.

try this solution and give me your feedback.

Insert Sim phone is locked to
turn on phone
open slide
type 2945#*#
ENG mode menu will appear
Go down to factory reset and select { Wait a few minutes for it to reset }
This will reset phone back to before it was locked to a network
The phone will automatically restart
Now its unlocked ;)
