Hello So right now the mouse is still jumping around? You don't need to use recovery cd for this. You can go to control panel, add and remove software look for logitech software, hightlight it and choose uninstall. Check to see if the problem still exists. If still, then go to control panel and double click on Mouse icon, from here you can check the Mouse properties, check mouse speed, pointer, pointer option, wheel, and hardware, for hardware you can should have ps/2 compatible mouse selected, and try it to see if it works. It should be an easy fix.

I meant once you are in control panel, mouse icon, and properties, try to modify mouse speed, pointer, pointer option, and hardware (ps/2 compatible) to your desired setting, and click OK and try it to see if it works.

    Thanks

USB works only for KBD not USB mouse...all work on other PC's but not on XPS400. Chipset update and reinstalled drivers from Dell. Must be MOBO. Warranty out in 3 weeks. Dell support resisting mobo...

If you swap the usb mouse to another known good working usb port does that work. If it does then great, if not then here is what you will need to do. Go to device manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Delete any usb root hub devices, reboot windows and it will automatically redetect the drivers. You will notice that during this process your other usb devices will stop working, this is temporary until you reboot. If this is a logitech mouse uninstall the setpoint software through add/remove.

Keyboard has stopped working. have replaced batteries, tried to reconnect wireless channel and still nothing. I then rebooted and still nothing. Is is time to give up? Also, a side note the keyboard...

I have had the same problems on an XP configuration. You need to completely uninstall the Logitech drivers and first connect a wired keyboard.
Then reboot and follow the installation instructions for the Logitech keyboard/mouse combi. This probably means running the installer and then connecting the USB device.
It can actually take a few reboots before everything works, very annoying stuff.

Mouse drawing to much power dances all over the screen

Make sure you don't have any bluetooth devices activated near your wireless mouse or it will keep making it move all over the screen, killing the batteries. After bluetooth devices are disabled, take the batteries out and leave the mouse sitting for awhile without the batteries in their to let it reset for a fresh start. Them put them back in and see if it works. If it still does not work, un-install and re-install the software that came with it.

Moving cursor.

well there is a few things that could possibly be happening. if it is a touch pad or a wireless mouse something like a cell phone sitting close enough to them could be causing some interference. the second one is that you could possibly have the mouse keys turned on where you can control the mouse with the keyboard.
