The most common cause of a no heat problem on a GAS dryer is worn or blown igniter. These appliances are equipped with a burner assembly with electronic igniters. The following link explains a little theory about how these igniters work:

I know the link is for a gas range, but the burner assembly functions are nearly identical, as well as, the type igniters used.
If you are having ignition problems it is probably a simple matter of a weak or bad igniter. The burner assembly will ignite automatically as long as the gas valve, igniter coils and igniter are all functioning properly. It can take up to 90 seconds for the burner to ignite. As the igniter ages, you may experience longer ignition times. NOTE: Just because the igniter glows, does NOT mean it is good. An igniter may still glow, but could be too weak to properly operate the gas safety valve.
Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying any parts you may need. Prices vary, so shop and compare.
If your dryer IS heating, but simply is not drying, you may want to inspect the dryer vent ducting and interior cabinet for lint build and/or possible rodent infestation. Mice are notorious for building nests inside the vent ducting of dryers and cloggin them up. If the dryer wasn't used that much, this could be the case.
HINT: Here's a simple test you can try to determine whether or not the vent ducting may be clogged. Remove the dryer hose from the back of the dryer and turn the dryer back on. If the air flow leaving the dryer is forceful and warm, you may have a clog somewhere in the line from the point where it leaves the dryer to where it exits your home. Or, the line is kinked behind the dryer. The vent should be clear with no kinks or clogs. If your vent line runs under a crawl space make sure it is suspended above the ground and has no sags where lint could collect. RULE OF THUMB: The SHORTER and STRAIGHTER the vent duct, the BETTER. Inspect the line throughly. NOTE: It is also recommended that you use the semi-rigid metal type ducting to prevent crushing, kinking, rodent infestation and is heat resistant.
If the air flow is weak, you need to clean the duct work INSIDE the dryer. It is important to keep a dryer checked routinely. I recommend once per season (that's 4 times per year). Dryers are the cause of many house fires. These fires are due to lint accumulations inside the unit catching on fire.
If you have questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER (located on a nameplate around the door opening or back of the control panel) and let me know.
