As far as I knew, that laptop didn't have hdmi out. if it does, you should be able to use ANY hdmi although you made need a specific cable with either a full size male hdmi on both ends or an hdmi with a full size male on one end and a mini male on the other. if it doesn't have an hdmi out port though, you will need something like a VGA to hdmi or DVI converter box (depending on what you are connecting the laptop to). a simple cable with VGA on one end and a hdmi on the other wont work either as it wont convert the signal properly. you need an electronic box(could cost more than $50) to convert the signal similar to this for an example...
