Access: http://OfficeUpdate.Microsoft.com and look for Microsoft's _FREE_ "Excel Viewer" software. Download it & install it. This software can be used to view & print, but not to change, Excel spreadsheets.

The Smart Technologies Notebook Version 11 software certainly seems to
be the culprit. Taking the cue from Bob Cochran, this is what is what I
did and the problem has stopped. Open Excel and click on the Office
button at the top left. Then Click on Excel options. Click on Add-ins.
In the "Manage" window, select COM Add-ins and click Go. In the COM
Add-ins window uncheck SMARTInk-Excel-All and click OK and "poof" problem
gone!!!
if you have excel 2007 you can save the file into excel 2003 compatibility
if you have excel 2003 need download compatibility pack from this page http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en install it and success!
You will not be able to legally obtain Microsoft Excel without cost, however you can download and install OpenOffice for free and that includes a component that functions just like Excel and can open Excel documents, as well as Word etc. http://www.openoffice.org/
Have you tried the repair option in Outlook? From the help menu, you can choose Detech and Repair. Also, you can choose to repair all of Microsoft Office from the Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs, find Microsoft Office, and click change. Then You can choose to repair.
If all you are wanting to do is read or print the email attachments, and they have been written using Word 2003 or Excel 2003, you can go to Microsoft.com and download Word Viewer 2003 and Excel Viewer 2003. These two viewers will allow you to read or print either Word or Excel documents as long as the original composer used Word 2003 or Excel 2003, or some earlier version such as 2000 or XP. To the best of my knowledge, Microsoft has not released a viewer for any of its 2007 programs yet.
However, if you are wanting to compose new documents, or edit the attached documents, you will need to have a copy of the program in question.
There is also one other possibility. You can go to openoffice.org and download a free copy of Open Office. I am not sure if the Open Office Suite is 100% compatible with the Microsoft Office products, but it should be close enough to get you by.
One other thing, if you are receiving .pdf documents, you can go to Adobe.com and download the latest version of Adobe Reader. This is also a free download and will allow you to open, view and print the .pdf documents but, again, in order to edit them you will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat (not free) or some other compatible program such as Open Office (again there may be some slight compatibility issues to deal with).
