Inglis belt replace

1) unplug the dryer. 2) Remove the lint screen on the top of the dryer. 3) take the two phillips head screws out where the lint trap is. 4) with a flat head screwdriver pop the top of the dryer up by sliding the driver inbetween the top and front of the dryer and pry upwards a little. 5) on the left and right upper inner sides of the dryer you will find two screws, one on each side, remove these and the front should be easlily remove. 6) Next is to remove tension from the belt so that you can remove the drum. To do this simply reach under the drum and pull the idler pulley in the direction of the closest wall. This will give you the slack needed to take the belt off. 7) carefully pull the drum out. I usually do this by lifting up on the left from the top, using it as a handle. This is helpful because it also prevents the belt from getting snagged on anything underneath.
If the dryer is a DUET or HE2 or HE3 style, (dryers that match the front loader) then the way you take the top off is a little different. For these machines, there are 3 to 4 screws located on the top back side you'll need to remove, and then the dryer top can be slid back and removed.

Getting to drum in kitchenaid dryer

The way to visually see if the belt has broken or not is to 1) unplug the dryer. 2) Remove the lint screen on the top of the dryer. 3) take the two phillips head screws out where the lint trap is. 4) with a flat head screwdriver pop the top of the dryer up by sliding the driver inbetween the top and front of the dryer and pry upwards a little. 5) You'll now see the drum, if the belt is not around it its broken, and if it's visible try to lift it. If it taught, its good. IF THE BELT IS BROKEN OR LOOSE CONTINUE TO NEXT STEPS 6) on the left and right upper inner sides of the dryer you will find two screws, one on each side, remove these and the front should be easlily remove. 7) once off you'll be able to easily see the motor, the belts idler pulley, and everything else.

Mdg9700 need to remove front cover, which does NOT match normal maytag type bottom held by clips not screws, first look is that control panel needs to remove first but if so these are concealed.

The top panel and the control panel need to be removed first before the front panel can be removed. Once the top panel is off, the screws attaching the control panel to the dryer cabinet are exposed. The screws securing the front panel to the dryer cabinet are exposed once the control panel is removed.

Disconnect power and remove the two screws attaching the top panel to the rear of the dryer.

How do I get to the gas coils?

Remove top back of dryer that houses all the switches, remove screws in lint catcher area on top of dryer. Remove screws that are attached to clamps at back of dryer that hold top on. Top should now slid forward for you to remove. At the top of front cover on the backside of it, you need to remove screws that hold on the front cover. Then slide it up for removal. Hold drum or it will fall off. Gas coils are at bottom of dryer.

Took the lint screen out and forgot to put it back in and a kneehigh went in the vent and made a noise. Is there any way to get it out without repairman. I cannot see the nylon and the machine is stacked...

This being stacked makes things a lot more of a pain. Disconnect power.
  • Remove three phillips head screw at the back side of the dryer top
  • Slide top back about an inch or so and lift off
  • Remove two phillips head screws at 5 and 7 O'clock position on dryer bulkhead just behind dryer door.
  • Remove two phillips head screws on top front edge of dryer
  • Tilt dryer front forward at top and unplug door switch at top of door and light socket at top left.
  • Lift off dryer front, holding until you can unplug the moisture sensor wire at the bottom, then set aside.
  • Remove the four phillips head screws at the sides of the dryer holding the front drum support assembly.
  • Lift up assembly and pull toward you to remove.
  • You now have access to the blower.
