CHECK THE FANS! The biggest enemy to your laptop is HEAT! You just replaced the display it's very possible you inadvertently disconnected the cooling fan. Clean it while you have it apart dirt and dust prevent proper cooling
First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.
Your computer is overheating, it is shutting itself down to prevent damage to the internal components.
Your computer should be serviced by a computer technician. He/she will clean the components and chassis of dust. This will increase airflow over the components, meaning your system will be stable and will not shut down unexpectedly.
See if the Check disk utility will solve your problem. To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.
If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.
In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.
In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.
Most unexpected shut downs like this are caused by over heating. Is the computer in a closed in space? If so try moving it to where it has plenty of room to breath. If this does not help I would suggest trying to replace the current fans to be sure that they are in working order.
My laptop does this and so does my Linux computer. An optical mouse needs to work on a featureless surface. My oak grain desk is not good. A mouse pad with a picture is also bad. Use a clear textured surface - like a one colour mouse pad... Or Try a new mouse - a cheap one will do for testing. The tail on your mouse may be breaking. (Yes, they do that...)
It seems to happen with optical mice on random pattern surfaces.
This sounds like the cpu fan assembly go to Gateway and enter the model in the support then download the system diagram so you can remove the casing it would take me forever to type the inst. once you have removed the cover put you hand over the cpu fan assembly and check for airflow
If you are afraid to diass. your comp. take it to a pro.
