If this does not resolve the issue, then you are looking at replacing the power supply. This is a board that houses all of the tv's capacitors, which when faulty will cause this issue. It is a fairly common occurrence and is about a 200 dollar fix at a repair shop.If this does not resolve the issue, then you are looking at replacing the power supply. The old standby for almost all Sony sets is with the set off:
(remote control-Sony)
Display, 5, Volume up, power
With set then on the display should show the tech menu
Press 8 and (set will display or should RESET in red, then press enter and it should (reset) turn green---this has been the standard reset on their set for several decades.
Sometimes a system restore will fix this problem. Make sure that if you have more than 1 HDMI port on your TV that you have your TV tuned to the right HDMI port#. NOTE: A system restore will delete all saved game data. I recommend backing up your console onto a usb flash drive. GOOD Luck!
More information is required. Your backlight is lit (screen not dark) but I need to know what you have connected to the TV (your sources) and how they are connected. Does the menu/OSD (on screen display) work?
