HP psc 1315 Scanner won't scan

6. From Scanner or Camera
7. Scan


Way # 2----Click on the following in this order:
1. Windows
2. All Programs
3. HP
4. HP Solution Center
5. Scan Picture
6. Select File type from file type drop down arrow
7. Scan
8. OK

Hello, Windows XP provides a basic set of scanning drivers, also referred to as Windows Image Aquisition (WIA) drivers, which you can use as an alternative to scan a document when you cannot scan using the HP drivers. You might choose to use these scanning drivers for one of the following reasons:

• Your product released before Windows XP and HP has not released drivers that support scanning for your product.
• You have not installed the available HP software that includes scanning.
• You are troubleshooting a scanning problem and trying to identify the source of the problem.

Scanning with Paint To scan a document using Paint in Windows XP , follow these steps: NOTE: Before you begin, make sure that the product is connected to your computer.
Click Start , point to All Programs , point to Accessories , and then click Paint .Click File , and then click From Scanner or Camera .Make any desired setting changes.Click Scan .

You can scan with out any HP software also using the below steps.
Make sure that the printer is connected to the computer perform the following steps;

Steps for scanning in Windows XP: 1. Click the Start (Windows) icon.
2. Click All Programs.
3. Click Accessories.
4. Click Paint.
5. Click File and then click From Scanner or Camera.
6. Click Scan.
Steps for scanning in Windows vista:

1.Click the Start (Windows) icon.
2. Click All Programs.
3. Click Windows Photo Gallery.
4. Click File and then click Import From Scanner or Camera.
5. Click Import.
6. Click Scan.

It is possible that the Program is running in the back ground, with out you knowing. Open the Task Manager ( press ctrl+alt+delete at the same time ) and select hpqdirec.exe then End task, (if you see this more than once in the list close all). then retry scanning. I might would suggest reinstalling the program.

I just installed the software and am now scanning problem-free.

The user was trying to scan using HP Image Zone. It is for photos only to edit etc. Placed shortcut on desktop of Windows scanner application so he could use that.

I don't have a Mac, so not entirely exact on your solution. But, I do have a suggestion to try -

if you use a scanner, you probably have a photo editing software of some kind (like Photo Shop, Paint Shop Pro, etc etc). Within that program, there is an option to obtain the image from a scanner. You should be able to use that function instead. I know that with my WinXP, I could import from the scanner in Paint Shop Pro MUCH easier than trying to use the actual HP buttons on the 1315.

Please note that the 1315 will also only scan flat items well. If it is 3D, like jewelry or oddly shaped objects, you'll only get fuzzy-edged pictures. The 1315 has no depth perception, no matter what setting combination you use. Not HP's finest moment, for sure. I had this printer for a month or two before I was fed up, and went back to a separate printer and scanner! : /

how can i get a free driver of HP PSC 1315 all-in-one ? my CD Driver is damage

i have a Vista system and an old hp 1315. the CD driver that came with it includes some very useful software that cannot be installed in my laptop. according to the hp website, that's because Vista comes with a compatible software for my hardware. checking Windows Help & Support gave me this solution:

Open to Windows Photo Gallery, click File then click Import from Camera or Scanner.

i did exactly that and it worked!
