I have a Sagem recorder DTR6400T/6700T a number have faults have occurred....can't record, states HDD has reached its recording capacity but only used 5%.......when deleting, comes up with "error during

One way around it would be to reformat the hard drive. If it has that option. However you would delete any recordings on the drive.
There could be read errors on the drive too, which might be cured by clearing everything off.
Does the drive have a fault or status check? If it does try that first.

Sony dvd recorder as hdd error

try replacing the red sata cable which runs from the HDD under the DVD drive to the main board on the right-hand side. these are a common problem on these models, there cheap and unreliable. you can purchase a better quality cable from a computer store for little money. HDD ERROR is'nt necessery an HDD fault as i found out with my rdr-hx525. if however the HDD is faulty and you buy a replacement, once installed you will need to pair the new HDD with the unit by entering the service mode by unplugging the AC then while holding down open/close and play together then re-insert the AC lead while still holding open/close and play and wait until you see an "S" in the display then let go and the service mode will appear on the tv screen. go to no.9 HDD mode, press enter then go to no.3 Write ID then it will say "execute write ID?" yes and press enter and then it will say "writing HDD serial ID.... OK" once this is done, exit the service mode by keeping your finger on the power button for approx 10secs. your DVD recorder should now recognise the new HDD. if you don't follow this process, you will still have an HDD error message as your DVD recorder will have your old HDD installed and won't recognise your new one. given the amount of time since you posted this fault, you may still have the unit in question in which case i hope this solution is helpful, or for anyone else with the same problem.

Not Playing DVDs any more.

Get a laser cleaning disk, and follow through with the instructions about how to clean the laser with it.

If you are able to remove the DVD player drive, you can manualy clean the laser.

If cleaning the laser does not fix the fault, then this means that there is a failure somewhere else in the drive, or the laser itself is defective. Most of the time, these drive's are not worth servicing.

HDD Error

Since my last post, I have rectified the problem.....

1) I opened the unit to find a seagate HDD
2) I downloaded the Seatools in dos format and burned the image on to a cd rom
3)Taking out the HDD from my recorder,I hooked it up to another pc and ran the seatools disk @ bootup.
I tried for 2 hrs to repair the bloody thing ( 160 gb!) so i gave up and tried to erase the full HDD...which worked.
4) on my laptop i navigated to Pioneers site and found my recorder along with instructions and a zip file that contained 2 files.
5)After reading the destructions erm i mean instructions ;) I put the HDD back into the recorder and followed the instructions again..

Crossing my fingers i turned the recorder back on and to my amazement i was able to have more functionality..BUT... it says my HDD name error so I ran the disk again and wallah! all worked XDDDD

Here are the links

Doesn't read dvd's

This problem is down to failure of the laser and an only be solved by replacing it. Samsung are aware of this fault but will only offer a free replacement if the unit is still covered by it's warranty.
They do offer a replacement service but charge £94 for it.
