Dont know where spring goes as it was lying in bottom as belt had snapped

Hi. I am assuming you have the front cover off to be able to see the belt laying on the base. First thing is to make sue all bolts holding the motor assembly to inner frame are tight. Next, check your SPRINGS and their mounts...Rust and corrosion is main cause of failure. The belt goes around the water pump,transmission pully and inside of idler(tensioner) pully. Good luck! the belt goes under the roller and then onto the motor

if it is the top belt it is ac . you can take it off .you will not have ac . the bottom belt is power steering and altenator , you be walking soon after it breaks.

That little screen that lies at the bottom of the bucket needs to be snapped out and the washer replaced. You have to unscrew the bottom, carefully remove the spring loaded lever, ( don't loose the spring) After fishing the lost rubber washer out of the hole, I used a screw driver or other similar item to pop the screen out. ( use care not to poke a hole in screen.) Next replace lever and spring and push the Star ended piece through the bottom and THEN fasten the washer. Replace all excess pieces and it should be fixed provided the washer isn't badly worn. This is the only way I know how to fix it after countless different web pages and searches.

There should be a sticker under the hood that shows the belt routing. If not go to a parts store, Autozone ect and they can look it up and print it out for you

sounds like the plastic take-up pulley on the motor which is spring loaded to keep the drum belt tight. You will have to replace the tensioner which should, depending on the model, include a new plastic pulley.

The pulley in question is likely a spring loaded idler pulley, used to keep tension on the belt. It likely hangs onto the dryer's frame, & is held in place by the belt. If you order a new belt from Sears, ask them for a belt path diagram, which should show the proper pulley position.

put back back on with top off remove screws in top corners of front panel remove bottom panel and screws holding blower/lint screen housing on remove door springs remove screws on bottom corners of front belt is probably lying in bottom
