Hi I am looking for the instruction booklet for my camera which is a Vivitar series 440pz with a auto focus lens

This happen when the lens is far from camera. If you can't get closer, you'll need to adjust the lens, internally. At a camera repair center.

Vivitar Series 1 lenses were available with a variety of lens mounts for different camera makes. If the lens has a Nikon mount then it will work on a Nikon D80. If it has some other mount then it will not fit.

Unfortunately it cannot.
However there are some amazing adapters out there. They start about $10.00 on eBay and go up from there. There is on that sells for about $55 that will connect the Vivitar to the Auto focus confirmation signal in the camera, so that when the lens is focused manually, you hear the camera's signal to confirm focus.

is your camera a digital or film camera?
this lense is designed for a film camera and is discontinued

If the lens won't focus to infinity then there is probably something physically wrong with the lens. With the dominance of digital equipment you can find fantastic deals on manual focus 35 mm lenses. I would look at Canon manual focus lenses rather than sticking with vivitar. I hope this helps!

Minolta X 370 is not an auto focus camera so provided you are willing to use the Vivitar lens in manual AND provided the lens has minolta mount , you will be able to use it.
