  • 2Use this open port to connect the old router to the new routers WAN(wide area network) port. If your old router has an uplink port, use this instead of the last LAN(local area network) port and keep the last LAN port open.
  • 3Connect the computers to the ports on the new router.
  • 4Configure the new router settings to match the old router settings.
  • 5Use IPConfig to check you current IP address
  • 6Use this information to create a static IP on the computers connected to your network.
  • 7Set the Default Gateway to the IP address of the router in which the computer connects.

When I try to e-mail pictures from windows gallery a dial up connection box pops up and I don't have dial up. I have DSL. Then I am unable to send the pictures.

You need to change the connection settings of outlook express from dialup to Local area network.

    To do this :
    1. Click on tools and then click on accounts
    2. Select your default account and then click on edit.
    3. Click on the tab which says connection.
    4. Select the radio button which says connect using local area net work or Internet exlplorer's connection.
    5. Confirm by clicking on Ok.

Restart Outlook express. Now your issue should be fixed.

    Hi,
what is the wireless status in system tray? is it local or local and internet.
    1. first check if it works fine with wire conection or not.
2.if it fine with cable then issue is with wireless. probably issue with Wireless security key.
    3. go to available wireless networks and select the net work, if it is asking for wireless key please enter that. if you donot remember that perform router reset.that takes care of it.

    Create a local area network

you can get a HP x175 printserver. (not expensive.) and connected it between the printer and the router. that way you don't have to have the desktop on all the time.

    Won't connect to the Internet

If you are using a dialup connection, the ethernet connection would not have anything to do with your problem. Be sure the cable is plugged into the line socket. Take a repular phone and plug it into the telephone socket on the computer and see if you get a dial tone. Be sure you have entered the number correctly including a 1 and area code if required. You may want to call the number your computer is trying to call to see if you hear modem tones ( to be sure the number is correct). If all that is in order, your friends are probably right and your modem is bad. It may be covered under warranty.

Can't connect to 3Com Office connect wireless from Apple Mac Pro

    PPPoE connection is set up

    1. Control Panel, double-click Network Connections. 2. Click the PPPoE connection under the Broadband group that you want to share, and then click Change settings of this connection under Network Tasks. 3. On the Advanced tab, click to select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box. 4. PPPoE connections behave in a similar way as do dial-up networking (DUN) connections, and you may want the connection to be automatically dialed when another computer on your network attempts to connect to the Internet. To do this, click to select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box. 5. If you want to allow other network users to enable or disable the shared Internet connection, click to select the Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection check box. 6. Under Internet Connection Sharing, in Home networking connection, click the LAN (Local Area Network) connection that connects the computer that is sharing its PPPoE Internet connection to the other computers on your network.

    Wireless internet connection

I may be able to help with this...but I need a detailed description of how you have things connected between the XP desktop, the cable, modem, the Linksys router, and the laptop. Also, is the Linksys router new?

Typically, the wan port on the wireless router connects directly to the cable modem with a cat5 network cable....then the desktop pc connects to the router...on port 1 for example...with a similar cable. Once the wireless router is set up properly, the laptop should then be able to connect using wireless.
