Well, Sega's aren't known to be long lasting, but if it isn't an issue with the console itself you could try checking all of your cords, assuring they are plugged in good and tight to both your console and screen. Faulty cords can easily be overlooked.
If your discs aren't working, but you're hearing the music from different ones and no picture, it sounds like an issue with one of your video jacks, so make sure everything is properly plugged in.
Failing that, bring it to a retro gaming shop to have it looked at or test it at someone else's place.
