My husband sprayed oven cleaner (non-caustic) around the edge of the cover, waited
a little while, then used a gadget that opens jar covers and got it out !! Baked on grease wasnt the cause, as it looked clean enough when he got it out.

How do I remove the glass cover to change the oven light? I have tried to twist it in both directions but the glass has now shattered.

Might as well order another cause your going to need it. Mine has a wire clip that holds it on. If can get a model number maybe we can look that one up. I have never heard of one breaking.

Need to remove the cover for the oven light - it doesn't unscrew feels somewhat like it's got rust around it - light hasn't been replaced in 5 years.

If the owners manual says it unscrews try heating the oven up a bit to expand the steel and carefully use an oven mit to try to remove it. WORD of caution is to UNPLUG or disconnect power to the stove before you horse on it to avoid crossing any wires at the back of the stove should the whole assembly twist on you and cause damage to your control board.

I've lost the manual to my Whirlpool Gold stove/oven and the oven light has died. Tried to take it out; covering on it and I hesitate to try to turn it in hopes of pulling out....is that what I should do?

Hello- The glass covers are tough to unscrew sometimes. I start with a good grip and wiggle until the grit loosens up while un-screwing. The bulb can stick too, so be careful taking it out. Hope this helps. Thanks-ED

How do I replace the light in the oven? Unscrew the cover? Don't want to force it and break it.

these oven lamp covers if not been turned in a while will be baked on.. you have to force the twist with teatowel, truth be known the glass is pretty thick and i think i have only lost 1 in many years of repairs .... if able to loosen when replacing do not overtighten..
do not use wd40 or lubricants to shift as when in operation the smell will be terrible as well as rendering the unit unuseable

The light bulb burned out in the oven and I don't know how to get the light cover off in order to change it.

from the looks of the diagram for the unit, it seems as if the glass cover might just screw off. Unless there is a wire clip that runs across the lens cover or a metal ringthat runs around the base of it, then I would sayit unscrews. Sometimes they get hard to unscrew,so you might heat the oven to a low temp, like 250 deg and use a potholder or something like the OveGlove to try and unscrew it. If that doesnt work, unfortunately, you may have to call a tech.

How to change the oven light

if there is a cover over the light globe you can normally unscrew it, it can be hard because of the heat that your oven runs at; take the light globe down to you local electrical supplier and they will most likely be able to find another one.

You change from inside of oven. Bulb will be located under glass bulb cover. Push clip to side, remove glass cover, then unscrew bulb.

Oven light

Turn the power off to the oven. Spray around the bulb base / socket with Pam or similar spray cooking oil. Will take several applications. Bulb should free up -- may take a couple of hours for oil to seep into socket far enough to loosen it. Use oil liberally.

Replacing the oven bulb

Try taking the cover for the fan and element off -- I found this is the only way of getting a decent grip on the glass. It's four Philips screws. Obviously make very sure the oven's properly cold and isolate the electricity supply before you do it!
