Hi I am having the same problem. I have disconnected all my speakers and the amp still activates protection light and the volume automatically returns to zero. Sometimes it just goes half way down and then stops but eventually it returns to zero. This is driving me mad. Have tried using different inputs but the same problem occurs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check the speaker wires for a short. Try operating the amp without the speaker wires hooked up.

Protection light comes on and volume returns to zero. I am using a Azur 540A. This issue occurs when I ride the volume above a certain point, which is NOT any higher than i've been running it for years....

Protection circuits respond to overloads. Unless the protection circuit is faulty there is probably something wrong with the power amp parts located on the heat sink.
It would be a good idea to have the top cover off (on power) and listen for that noise to try and pin it down what is making it.

When volume goes high, the system goes in protection and relay's clik is heared

This is not the fault with remote control. Check the load connected to the device. If overload occurs, the device will itself go to protect mode. Disconnect speakers one by one and check which speaker box causes the system to go to protect mode, when volume is incresed. Check that speaker for short.

When I turn the knob to increase the volume, it goes up to three and drops back down to zero. It does this everytime I move the knob at a normal pace or faster. However, if I push the knob slightly in and...

It could be a safety protection meaning you could have a shorted speaker check all speakers and wiring, or it could be a defective volume control, try cleaning the volume with a contact cleaner spray you can find at any good electronic store (you normally have to open the radio to reach the POTENTIOMETER/VOLUME) to be able to spray inside it, than alternate (high/low) the control repetively to move/clean the volume's circuitry

Good luck!

Sonamp 260 cuts out

Normally this denotes a protect condition. Remove the speaker wires from the back of the amp and see if the green light stays on. If this fixes the problem, then there is a short circuit in your wires, speaker level volume control or speakers. The amp sees the short and goes into protect. After a couple seconds it closes the connection again and if the short is still present it goes back into protect.
