Would like the webcam drivers for advent celeron c900 can you suggest the correct link please thank you

Hi

You don't say which Operating System you are using or what the actual reason is for you needing to install the Webcam Driver. Have you upgraded your Operating System? Or did the Webcam just stop working and you want fix it with Driver re-installation within the same Operating System?

Although, on the surface, drivers seem to mainly be about hardware, they are actually mainly about software. The Driver does not physically control the Webcam. The Operating System does. What the driver does is (just like a human interpreter for a guest who speaks a different language from his host), introduce the Webcam to the Operating System and help them to communicate with one another, with Driver taking instructions from both and passing it back and forth between them.

So when one mentions Drivers, one must also mention the Operating System it will be talking to. In order for that to be possible, the 2 must share a common language. If they do not, then the role of 'interpreter' is impossible, because, then neither the Driver nor the Webcam will be able to understand what the Operating System is saying.

There is no such thing as a Webcam Driver. There can only be an XP Webcam Driver, a Vista Webcam Driver or a Windows 7 Webcam Driver.

Unfortunately Advent is a bad choice of computer brand for you, because it is an Own Brand of the Dixons Stores Group (owner of PC World & Curry's Digital) and because, they want all Advent computers repairs to be done, at a price, by PC World's Tech Guys, they offer NO Driver Support at all on their the Advent Website. If you type either "download" or "driver" into the Search Box on the Advent site -"0 Items Found". See here:

http://www.adventcomputers.co.uk/product-comparison

All the website offers is hardware - Laptops, Desktops and Printers for Sale. No online support at all.

So you are stuck, I'm afraid. Either go to PC World or go back to your previous Operating System or use System Restore to put your computer back to when the Webcam was working (only possible, if you have not changed Operating Systems).

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore My Computer to an earlier time > select a HIGHLIGHTED date in the calendar and an event in the schedule that preceded the Webcam fault (When the webcam was working) > Restore > Restart computer? Test Webcam

There are unofficial websites that claim to have Webcam Drivers for your computer, but you would have to gamble and take your luck between these sites, because DSG tightly control all Advent Drivers and officially release them to no 3rd Party Company, so I have my doubts if anyone else has them - but it is possible. See here, for example:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/advent+c900+camera+drivers/

I hope this helps.

Hi! I can't find any way to get my Advent 4211-C (Windows XP OS) webcam working on Skype (the only webcam function I currently use). Cyberlink says there's "No available Captured Device". I don't...

Advent 4211 always require you to enable it everytime you turn the laptop on. it is Fn key + F10 I think. Look for the Function key at the top of your keyboard which has a picture of a webcam. Hold down the FN key at the bottom left, and then click on the correct 'F' key. You should see a little picture come up on the screen to say you have enabled your webcam. That should work.

Acer's built in webcam

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.

If that does not work then do this:

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
