I want to use phone lock security feature but can't remember old password

Im assuming its a samsung phone
Samsung cell phones come with many security features.
In addition to the common feature of preventing calls after a period of inactivity, some Samsung phones also allow you to prevent others' use of your phone's SIM chip and access to your files.
One password unlocks the various locks, except for two other passwords used for the SIM chip. The syntax of the menu items to click to reset a password differ somewhat between Samsung models but you can figure out roughly how to apply instructions for one phone to another.

Lock the phone from making calls by clicking "Start" or "Menu," "Security Settings" (or "More" and then "Security"), and "Phone Lock" or "Device Lock."
Change the password by clicking "Start" or "Menu," "Security Settings," and "Change Password." Then enter a new password.

Set the phone to work only with the current SIM chip by clicking "Menu," "Security Settings," and "SIM Lock."
Enter a new password when prompted.

Prevent unauthorized use of your SIM card by clicking "Menu," "Security Settings," and "PIN Lock." Type a new PIN when prompted.

Prohibit access to your files, messages and contact list by clicking "Menu," "Security Settings," and "Privacy Lock."
Enter the password from Step 1 when prompted to unlock access.
Reset the file lock/messages/contact password by resetting the phone lock password, as in
Step 1

Do you see the power of passwords now? PIN and PUK are two security features provided by the service provider. And given wrong more than three times locks the SIM and renders it useless. You have to get another SIM for a small charge to retain the old number.

if you have not changed the security password then the password will be 12345 or 0000 and if you have changed it then try remembering the password and do not attempt entering password more than thrice as it will lock your mobile phone.

if you cannot remember the password then you need to update your software.

There are 2 scenarios that I could see:

1. You had forgotten your password and your centro demands that you enter it so that you can access its features; and
2. You had forgotten your password but you are still able to access the phone's features because it is not locked.

If we're in scenario 1, I'm afraid the only resolution that i can see is to hard reset the centro. There would not be a way around the password lock.

You'd be luckier if we have scenario 2. You'd just need to do these:

1. From the applications screen, open 'Security'
2. Tap on the password box which should say 'Assigned'.
3. Tap on 'Lost Password' on the dialog box and then "yes'.

The BlackBerry smartphone rejects less secure passwords, such as those composed of identical characters or those that consist of natural sequences (for example, 1234). In instances such as these, the BlackBerry smartphone will display the message The password cannot be a sequence.
Set a BlackBerry smartphone password

1. From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
2. Click Security Options.
3. Click General Settings. Note: If you are running BlackBerry® Device Software 4.0.2 or earlier, click Options, and then Security.
   
4. Change the Password field to Enabled.
5. Display the menu and click Save.
6. Type your new password and click Enter.
7. Verify your new password by typing it again and click Enter.

Change the BlackBerry smartphone password

1. From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.

Turn on password protection using the Security Timeout feature Security Timeout is a feature that, after a predetermined amount of inactivity, will lock the BlackBerry smartphone automatically.
To turn on Security Timeout, complete the following steps:

1. From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
2. Click Security Options.
3. Click General Settings.
4. Set the Security Timeout field to the amount of inactive time the BlackBerry smartphone is permitted before it is locked automatically.
5. Display the menu and click Save.

Note: Clicking Lock on the Home screen instantly locks the BlackBerry smartphone.
Unlock the BlackBerry smartphone

1. Press any key on the BlackBerry smartphone to display the Enter Password screen.
2. Type your BlackBerry smartphone password. Press Enter.

Important: If a password in incorrectly typed ten consecutive times, all of the information on the BlackBerry smartphone is automatically deleted. This is a security feature.


Additional Information When the Security Timeout feature is set for a longer duration than the Backlight Timeout feature, the BlackBerry smartphone will lock automatically when the combined duration of the features has elapsed. For example, if the Backlight Timeout feature is set to dim after two minutes and the Security Timeout feature is set for 20 minutes, the BlackBerry smartphone will not automatically lock until 22 minutes has elapsed.

Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “Secure Location” does not unlock a locked Garmin unit either as it’s only a temporary fix as when it’s turn on outside the security location, the device is locked again."

So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.

You can activate this feature from Tools | Settings | Security | Phone and SIM | Allow remote lock menu. The password of your memory card will be your remote lock message. So, if you still remember your remote lock message, then try to unlock your memory card’s password using that message.
