360 desktop wit Window Xp. Hardware (CDROM -PLDS DH-16AAS DVDRW) installing problem

Two items on a single IDE ribbon cable require a master and a slave. The next step is to let BIOS know of the drive. Press F2 during boot and check. Look for it were other drives are, and there maybe a auto select / discovery option. It must show in BIOS, or there is no going forward.

If BIOS sees it and XP does not. Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install. Walla CD-ROM in the house.

If none of this works. Test another cable, CD-ROM, or computer. Oh yea, virus protection. Do a thorough scan. This was a common problem back in the day.

Hello: I have installed UBUNTU 10.4 into my computer and it does not recognise my SONY CD ROM (CRX1611). Is there a driver for UBUNTU I can download please ? Thanks, James.

  • Assuming that /media/cdrom0/ is the location of CD/DVD-ROM
  • To mount CD/DVD-ROM:

    sudo mount /media/cdrom0/ -o unhide
  • To unmount CD/DVD-ROM:

    sudo umount /media/cdrom0/
I wonder if maybe the DVD is there, but it hasn't been mounted so try this above...usually Ubuntu should pick up the DVD and assign a generic driver. If it isn't there and you cannot mount it, then maybe it's faulty? You need to test it, on another PC.Hopefully this will help.

Pleease reinstall printer driver after installin AIO 966 driver

There must be some misunderstanding. Let me give some hints, First, remove the cartridges, unplug the power cable and the usb cable. Now power on your printer and leave it for few minutes. Again, plug/reinsert them and power on (make sure you connect the usb to the printer as well as on the computer usb port). If you get a small window "Found New Hardware Wizard" then insert you cd into the cd/dvd rom. Select "No Not this Time only" from the "Found New Hardware" wizard and click "next" then select "Install from a list or specific location" click "Next", check the "include this location in the search" click "browse" and manually search the driver to you Cd rom directory. After you locate the driver, click "Ok" then "next", the wizard will search and install the driver and click "finish" when it's done. Do let me know if this helps or not.

That is a Vista problem with ACER. Delete the reference in device manager and restart and let the comp reco0gnize and reinstall ...just follow the screen instructions.

There is a registry setting that needs deleting but only if this doesn't work.

CD - ROM

If you haven't tried reinstalling the drive, this may help:
- Open the Control Panel - Open the System folder - Click on Hardware - Click on Device Manager
Locate the DVD-CD-ROM entry and expand it. Highlight your optical drive and press 'Delete'
If it argues with you, answer 'Yes' to the question of deleting the drive(s)
Reboot your computer and watch for a message box reading that a 'New Device' was found and software for it is being installed.
If it still doesn't want to cooperate, then the drive is probably 'toast' and will need to be replaced.
