We have a Kodak Carousel 4600 projector that needs repair. It holds 80 slides and it runs quitely while there is no slide showing. Once the remote kicks over to show a slide the fan gets really noisy. Thank you

I suspect the problem you have is a stretched drive belt (from the power motor to the slide change mechanism). The good news is there are still parts available from: www.micro-tools.com The problem is the replacement of this belt is a involved disassembly - at the very least you would need great mechanical aptitude and (most important) a service manual. I would recommend locating a factory-trained service dealer to make this repair for you.
Good Luck !

Will slides back from 1960 work in a Kodak Carousel Slide Projector?

As long as the slide film is in 2"x2" mounts, yes! I would advise you to use an 80-slide tray as opposed to a 140-slide tray. The individual slide compartments in an 80-slide tray are wider, making it more forgiving to older, possibly warped slides. 80-slide trays can still be purchased from: www.vinevalleyimaging.com. The lever that drops the slides gets stuck in the 'up' position when the carousel is on the projector but it works fine when there is no carousel attached. When it gets stuck you have to take the carousel...

If you are using a 140 tray with older slides, that's very logical! Over time, slides develop a "side-to-side curve". Because the Carousel 140 tray stretches the design limits of the projector to be able to accurately return the slide to the tray, the slightest bend or "dog-ear"(the fraying of the corner of the slide) will cause exactly the problem you're having. If you have a Kodak 80-Slide tray, try it. Chances are that it will work fine. If it does work fine, then you have 2 options: 1. Move all your slides into Carousel 80 Trays.
2. Have your slides re-mounted (that is, have the paper mounts replaced).
I hope this helps !!

Will Not advance or go back with remote

If you have another Slide Tray (preferably an 80-slide tray), try that. If it exhibits the same failure with another tray, then you have one of 2 problems: either a mechanical problem that is preventing the direction lever to advance or reverse the tray; OR you have an electrical problem - the low voltage that controls the advance circuitry is either too low or not present. Either way, you need an KODAK Authorized Repair Dealer to help you sort this out.

Problems with using a 140 carousel on a Kodak 4600

There is nothing wrong with your slide trays. Your projector needs an adjustment to the cycle contact assembly. The constant cycle mode is a dead-giveaway. You need to take the projector to an Authorized Repair Dealer for this adjustment. Should be relatively quick - - it takes longer to get the case apart than to make the repair!

Trying to find a carousel that will fit Navitar model CP-300AF

I am pretty sure that the projectors modified, marketed & sold by Navitar were Kodak projector bodies & slide transports. Assuming this is the case, a Kodak 80 Tray should work just fine!

Need to make it advance automatically

Sure! Not only did Kodak sell an external automatic timer that plugs into the remote socket, a number of other companies had them as well. If you can't find one searching online for "Kodak slide projector plug-in timer", try: www.micro-tools.com Good Luck !

Properly loading the slide tray

If the first slide is visable and consecutive slides are not, the "dark shutter" (a feature that prevents the eye-popping bright white screen when no slide is present) needs adjustment. A fairly easy adjustment for a factory-trained service dealer with the service manual and the correct tools.
