Usually there is not a switch to turn wifi on a modem you need a wireless device to try to access its wireless network
you need to plug a wired computer into your modem and type in default ip address 192.168.x.x they are slightly different for each brand EI: linksys 192.168.1.1 Dlink 192.168.0.1 telus: 192.168.1.254
so go into your router settings and you should have a wifi tab somewere in there you can set your SSID (what your wifi will be called) for something you will remember and maybe disable security untill you get your wifi device connected then add what ever security you like
when you try to access your wifi network witha wifi device you wifi light will come on your modem

Im trying to connect to the internet and it says error code 051030 wat do i do

Your wireless router may need to be power cycled, or the connection settings have changed.
How to fix: Power cycle your router; redo the connection settings on the Wii and try again.
  • Did this connection used to work but has suddenly stopped? "Power cycle" your router and modem. To do this, unplug both the modem and the router from the power outlet. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then plug in the router. Try to connect the Wii, Nintendo DS, or Nintendo 3DS online and test for proper response.

  • Erase your old connection settings on the Wii and set up a new one, as your router's settings may have changed since you last connected. We suggest following our guide to create a new connection file and start over. If at the end you still need help, you'll find contact information to reach our specially-trained representatives.

You can do it manually without the CD.

Did you try turning on the little Wi-fi switch ON the switch is just below and to the left of the touch pad (on the edge just below the latching area). Some people ignore the most obvious solutions, no offense.
look for your D-link in the resulting notification icon that your (now turned on) found new wireless locations.
