The handle is coming apart. It does not fit tight enough & sometimes falls while the coffee is brewing. Where can I purchase a new one to fit my Solis SL 70 machine purchased late in 2004.

How do I go about purchasing the gaskets and the portafilter? What is the cost, and is it difficult, or could a layman do it? Thanks for the information.

HI
If the portafilter is coming out when brewing your brew head gasket needs to be replaced. If you have never replaced your brew head gasket its way beyond time. They should last about 3-4 years at the most. With a good brew head gasket the portafilter should be easy to lock in, not requireing a lot of pressure to force it over. Try replaceing the gasket first before you invest in a new portafilter. If you really need one I have some and the gaskets.

No water coming down to cups

Assuming that you are certain that there is no scale blocking the brew head and that the pump is running normally, try making a cup with no filter cup installed into the filter handle (obviously with no coffee grounds either) but with the handle installed into the machine

If water now flows, your problem is a blocked filter in the floor of the filter cup, and the easiest and most reliable way to fix that is to purchase a replacement filter cup :o)

Check also that the filter handle's outlet holes are not blocked. The tar like gunk that builds up in the filters and handles can be quite hard to remove

Can't get tight fit between basket & steam ring

the proper replacement steam ring has an up-side & down side. the brew-head plate must be installed with the grooved side facing up; the steam ring has a groove in one side that fits over the top up the brew-head plate...does this solve the problem? if not, you may have the wrong steam ring/the brewhead plate may be installed incorrectly...oh, nov of 08...i seriously hope you've figured this out already. if not, you don't happen to still have machine in your possession, do you? if so, i'll buy it for $5.

Water in the waste unit, coffee comes not strong enough, as use to, although the settings are for strongest possible and the coffee grinder is set to medium. My unit is 4075 but I think it is just the...

Your chute between the grinder and the brew unit is "glued" with coffee. Take out the the brew unit, clean it under water. Take a vaccum cleaner and put the pipe into the hole where the coffee falls into the brew unit. Move the bean container "hard" in and out ( knocking inside the maschin to loose the blockage). Switch in the main menue all to factory defaults. Put the grinder "level" into the middle again. start a brew unit cleaning process. After that you coffee must be ok again. Do not use oily beans or coated beans. the block the chute.

I purchased a new machine and cannot seem to get the stainless steel filter to fit into the filter holder and then fit into the slots - what is the trick?

try this: on the handle there is a black clip that needs to be slid back away from the filter holder; filter basket should now fit (more or less); the markings for lining up the filter-handle into the brew-head slots are a little off; look up at the brew head, familiarize yourself with the location of the slots; line up the filter handle (make sure that black tap is still pulled back, or it won't go in). hope this helps!

Weak coffee

It sounds like you may have lost the sprayhead. It is under the brew basket (above the place where you put the basket with the filter and the coffee). Sometimes they get loose and you don't realize it and it can fall in the grounds and get tossed out after brewing.

Leaking cuisinart grind and brew

Our Cuisinart grind and brew was leaving a puddle under it after making a pot of coffee. I called Cuisinart this week and it turns out the handle of the carafe has to be lined up in the middle of the opening for the carafe. It will be under the word Cuisinart, in the middle.

We have now made several pots with NO residual puddle of water or coffee. It also seems to be making the pots quicker.

Before trying this I had run 2 pots of water with 1/2 cup white vinegar in it also. But it still puddled until we lined up the carafe as noted above.

Sealing in the cofee machine

Hi,

You have to replace the steam valve, make sure you get one in metal.

Sometimes there will be a strange sound from the brewunit, make sure the filter in brew unit fits tight, if not you get a noisy sound from it.

Check also the hole in chassis behind the brew unit and make sure that is clean.

Blinking red light

The blinking light is a warning that something is not right.
-It will blink when the espresso waste basket is full. sometimes they stack up funny and it appears full and light blinks.
-second the beans don't always fall into the grinder from the hopper. They just need a gentle nudge
-Third it may be low on water.
-Four if you don't push the door closed on the fromt and ensure the spout where the coffee comes out is pushed in to the reciever inside the door the light will come on.
For me it has always been on of these four things.
Once I got the hang of the little nuisance everything works great. I love my machine and would buy another.
I have one or two espresso's a day,
