Hi wdaldrich312 Your unit is not compatible with W 7 ( no driver available ) . Try in compatibility mode ( right click on the icon on your desk and select " troubleshoot compatibility" ) . It sometimes work , sometimes not . Best regards , fanaudi .
Does it make the noise even when disconnected from the computer? Try to unplug it from the computer but leave the power connected (if it is a model with separate power and data connection) and see if it still makes the noise.
If it does then it is a hardware problem and it will need repairs. If it doesn't then its something in your software attempting to talk to the scanner incorrectly. You can try reinstalling the software for the scanner to ultimately test.
1. connect the scanner usb cable to your desk top
2. install your scanner driver (cd of your scanner) to your computer.
3 as you put the cd in your desk top computer it will give you guide line (just follow it)
