Vizio tv i accidently plugged something into the service usb port on my tv. now it does not work at all?????

  • Anonymous Sep 01, 2008

Exact same thing happeneed to me when my daughter tried to connect an iPod so that we could watch a movie. Why the %#@$ would someone design a TV that puts a port next to all the others, so that your motherboard fries if you plug into it?

  • joshs1gal Mar 12, 2009

our cable was out, so we were trying to connect our laptop to the tv to watch a movie and my husband tried the service port with a cable that we have to connect the two. our tv will not turn on or do anything at all. Vizio informed us that it shorted out the motherboard, and that we would have to contact their service repair company to have it assessed, but nobody is available to even schedule an appointment. Very frustrated!!

Just talked to vizio tech support and was told that doing so fried the motherboard. that also voids the service contract. i'm hoping for a better answer later because the part is in excess of $200.00 not including installation.

This is the price you pay for using something expensive and and complex without fully understanding its properties.

Just spent over an hour on the phone with Vizio. I did the same thing and they said it fries your service board. Why would they put an input on the back of the tv that fries the damn thing? This sucks!

I want to connect my Vizio vo320e to get WiFi

The Vizio VO230E does not have network capabilities built in. The TV has built around 2009 before many TVs included either wired or wireless networking. The manual has the specifications on page 61; the manual is available here: http://cdn.vizio.com/manuals/kb/legacy/vo320emanual.pdf .

To get a wireless connection, you need to connect some sort of streaming device with wireless networking to the TV. This can be a computer, a ChromeCast and your phone or tablet, a Roku device or another streaming box. Plug the HDMI cable (or device plug) or the device into one of the two HDMI ports on the TV. Connect the device to a power source, if one is needed. (For devices that use a USB power connection, do not connect the USB power cord to the service port of the TV. Connect it to a charger.)

Since your choice of devices range in price from the ~$15 Roku Express to several hundred dollars for computers, depending on the specifications, you will need to decide which features/platforms you want.

I hope this helps.

I have a Vizio TV and would like to add a Chromecast streaming media player, the information I have shows the player powered via the USB IN 1 port, would the RGB PC port work? I have model #GV47L FHDTV

Chromecase is a USB 'stick' type device with a USB interface. The RGB port is a video only port on the TV and not compatible with USB signal levels or the physical plug type.

CONNECT I PHONE TO VIZIO TV USB PORT AND WATCH NETFLIX.

Vizio doesn't support phone connect - only USB drive (ie thumbdrive type) - With correct USB, TV will show USB as a 'Source' - and if selected will show the files on the USB, but can only open / view folders, images, and video types.
