I have a hotpoint ctx18ba refrigerator freezer that is about 10 years old. I was recently given a kenmore icemaker that i mounted in it. I dont know if i have it wired right or not, because the watervalve runs all the time. When i first put it in the watervalve would eventually overflow the icemaker, but it was gradually. What is the difference in the wiring for a kenmore and a hotpoint?

Make sure that the fan is not obstructed and the area is clean. I know a man who bought a new freezer because his old one quit working. While taking out the old one, found a mouse stuck in the fan. Cleaned everything up and the freezer worked for 10 more years.
it sounds like the compressor insides are loose and you will be needing a new compressor, but just check and make sure the rubber mounting feet on the outer compressor base where its mounted to the refrigerator base are all tight and the rubber shocks are all good
