I have this problem from time to time, the 4 wheel drive won,t turn in, it won,t act up for the dealership, when the service 4 wd message is on I can shut the truck off and come back later and the hubs have turned in and the service light is off and the 4 wheel is fine, it is a '07 gmc 2500 hd duramax

I had a similar. Problem with 2000 GMC Sierra. I had it scan,but no problem was detected. It turn out to be the selector switch for the 4x4 on the dashboard. I was informed by a friend at the dealership of the bulletin for this problem. But the dealership would not cover the problem since no recall has been issued yet. I did get the dealership to sell me the switch at cost, $43.00. Hope this helps.

if both front wheels are dragging it is probably the master cylinder, if only one wheel is dragging it could be the caliper or the brake hose, jack the car up and have some one apply the brakes and try to turn the wheel the instant the brake peddle is released both wheels should start turning the instant the peddle is released....hope this helps

I had a similar problem with the Service 4 Wheel Drive light which came on intermittently then became more consistent in the message center display. It would go into 4 wheel drive if the message center did not display the Service 4 Wheel Drive message in the message center, but not when the message was displayed. I found the transfer case switch module in the dash was defective, and it has been working with no other problems for three years.

The four wheel drive range selector switch is readily available at any GM dealership. Quite easy to install as well.

Consult your owners manual. There is probably a reset switch somewhere for the 4 wheel drive unit. Next step, dealership...

The CRV is produced in both front wheel drive and four wheel drive versions. However in UK and Australia it is only available as a 4 WD as the front wheel drive option is not available in these countries.

The answer to your question therefore is that it is produced in both 2 WD and 4 WD but is dependant on what country you live in and the model variant.

serviceing it is ok but i would replace it
once it has frozen up (rusted) it will do it agin a short time after serviceing
i have done this on alot of jeeps and other models
replace it with a new one
