You must have a wireless adapter installed in your new PC. Assuming there is already one, then you need to identify what type of security you use with your wireless router.
If you don;t have any security installed, then you can just search for wireless access points and then you should be able to connect to your router. The danger with not having security is others can also easily connect to your router and network and possibly hacked to your systems and also eat up on your internet bandwidth.
The easiest security is to have a password installed before you can access the router. When you search for wireless, you just choose your wireless and then you must know the password so you can access it. You can save the password so don't have to do it everytime you connect. There's still a possibility though that someone can hacked your password, but not likely in a regular environment.

Another option is to register the MAC address of all of your PC in the router so only your own PCs can connect. This is a little bit more technical though so you may want to hire a tech for this.

Adding a wired computer or device to the network.

If you router is already set up and you want to add a new computer, you don't need to run the set up CD for the router again.
If you are adding a desktop or any other device to the router which will always be connected to the router with the Ethernet cable, then in this case you don't need to do anything.
You can just connect the Ethernet cable between the router and the computer and it should work.
If you are not able to go online even when it is connected properly then check IP address of the computer.

Adding a wireless computer or device to the network.

If you router is already set up and you want to add a new computer, you don't need to run the set up CD for the router again.
If you want to add a new wireless device ( laptop or any other wireless device) to the network, then you should know all the wireless settings of the router. What wireless settings do you need to know ?
You should know the wireless network name ( SSID ), wireless channel and the wireless security password
( network key ). Once you get all the wireless settings of the router , you will need to connect to the wireless network on the computer. when you try to connect to the network , you will see your wireless network in the list. You just need to select your network and connect to it. If it is secured then you will need to enter the network key and you will be able to go online.
To check the wireless settings of the router , you will need to access the router set up page. On the set up page you will find all the wireless settings of the router.

When trying to connect to my wireless modem it can't get an ip ad

Is it a modem or a router ?
If it is only modem then only 1 computer will go online at a time. If you have any other computer online already then the second computer will not go online and it will not get IP address.

If it is a combination of modem and router OR if it router then you can open the set up page of the device and find out the password.
For this you will need a computer connected to the device.
Check the IP address and open the set up.

No internet connection

You could try one of a few things.

1, get a wireless card if it does not have one already,
2. get regular internet from an ISP
3. Reset the network connections and make sure all cables are connected properly,
4. Set up a home network and use a second computer that has a reliable internet connection
5. move the tower around to see if it can catch a wireless signal,
6 (and last that i can pull from my head) Is to get a wireless signal expander to lengthen the range of current wireless around your house.
