WHIRLPOOL DUET DRYER MOD.# GEW9200LW0 my grandma has this dryer and the problem where having is it will start,run,get hot but takes 2 hrs to dry, vents are clean, and i put my clothes in it and it turned off after about 10 min , there is a dampness senser on it could this be part or the problem and if so where is it? thanks for any help

I have a whirlpool duet sport electric dryer with an error code of F 26.

If it's starting and not heating it's usually one of two things. Take off the bottom panel. 2 screws hold it in place. If you have a way to check the element with a meter or something that would be ideal. It should read about a short circuit. The other part that goes out a lot is the thermal fuse located in the front on a pipe it's long and narrow. Here is a link to show where things are in there. You need to remove the back panel first then with a multi meter the easiest way is to put the meter on continuaty test (beeps when contact is made then with the dryer switched of and unplugged put one probe on the one side of the element and the other on the other side if it beeps then your element should be ok if not one of two things (1) Your element is blown or (2) there should be a fuse around the area of the back support plate it may be a normal round fuse or a ceramic round fuse or what looks like a brown rectangular piece of plastic with a wire out each side test the fuse in the same way as you tested the element if blown replace if not then put in a element.
