I have a new (about 7 months old) SMEG SAP112-8 60cm Linear Pyrolytic Oven. The knob to turn the oven on does not seem to work. You usually push it in (and meet some resistance) to turn the oven on, then move it left or right to select function etc. Nothing is working - help! Thanks in advance :)

We have experienced the same problem. We have a service tech coming to fix it. The knob has come off. It seems that the internal spring has dislodged itself. This will be claimed under warranty. Ours is 5 months old. Our other Linear combo oven and coffee machine seem to be more solid/sturdy.

We are unable to remove the SHO mode from our Smeg oven SC485x-8. We have the manual but it is difficult to understand. The knobs and display are otherwise working perfectly. Any clues?

Smeg linear oven is displaying sho (showroom mode) and will not heat up. I have held down function knob for 5 seconds which clears SHO from display but within seconds it comes back. Any ideas

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Lots of water/condensate ends up on bottom of oven

I have the same problem with my new Smeg oven. I try to avoid using the oven at the moment because of the amount of condensation I have to mop up each time I use it, even the floor get wet!. Smeg have said they will replace it but I am now looking for an oven that will fit into the 'whole' the oven will leave in my newly renovated kitchen. I wish I had never ventured near to SMEG. I would never recomend Smeg to friends, quite the opposite.

Oven won't completely shut off, gas goes on and off 24/7

The Valve has started to sieze up requires either striping down cleaning and regreasing with polycoat grease or a new valve put on, either solution requires a Corgi registered Gas Engineer. May be expensive could be cheaper to get another oven and have a 12 month guarentee

Oven smoking

I am pretty sure this is just the steam escaping. Smeg ovens seal so evenly that the steam stays in the oven.
