I need a new motherboard for my computer. currently it has a ASUS PTGD-LA motherboard. does it matter what kind i replace it with?? I have an hp pavilion a1020n desktop

Information about the stock motherboard is here if you want to compare it to possible replacements. It doesn't matter what board you get as long as it fits (micro-ATX style) and can support the drives you have (enough IDE and SATA connectors). Also, if you want to keep your current memory and processor, you'll need to find a replacement that supports them. Finally you need to make sure that you stay within the ratings of the system power supply, unless you plan to upgrade it.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

How do i make a recovery disk for the vaio vgc-ra830g pc?

Hello again,

Sony sells the recovery media if you require it.
https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/categorySearch.do?operation=subCategorySearch&subCategory=109&category=3&subCategoryName=Recovery%20CD&categoryName=Computer

if the link doesn't work copy it completely to your addressbar and press enter.

If your machine works and you can use it, and you have the original stuff from sony still installed then you can most likely find the vaio recovery from your start menu.

1. close all extra programs that you don't need.
2. disconnect your internet
3. disconnect printers and other extra devices
4. From the Vaio Recovery wizard appliaction, in the vaio recovery window, under media nad recovery options, click to select Create recovery media kit.
5. click the next button
6. You have two choises for recovery media either one recordable CD and two recordable DVD's

OR

10 recordable CD's.

Need the motherboard layout for this board out of viao vgc-rc110g

You will find as with Dell that the motherboard etc is all custom & you cant upgrade it yourself, you have to go through Sony. I am not 100% on that but that has been the case with many branded PCs i have seen.

Can you not open the case? This usually voids the warranty but if you were intending to replace parts then it would likely be voided anyway.

Thanks

Upgrade Mother board and cpu

you can upgrade the CPU without changing the motherboard if the CPU is compatible with the motherboard, you have to buy an Intel processor since the motherboard is Intel. Log on to http://www.intel.com/
