We have a split system LG air con. Our local people cannot help us. The problem we have is that the unit seems to give off an offensive, unhealthy musky smell when not in use & also the temp when set at a certain degrees (eg. 23) within a few hours of use the temp drops to 19 deg or lower without lowering the controls.

There are two problems in your a/c. 1. Smell. 2. over freezing. The solution is 1.service the unit completely. 2. replace the room thermostat sensor. Sometimes, the room sensor may be working alright after servicing the unit. All the best.

I have a split-type aircon (brand: LG) with remote control. It has power and display when i put on batteries. but the aircon unit does not respond to the remote control. what do i do to fix this?...

Lift the front cover of the air con, on the right hand side there is a button or a hole which has a button inside which you can press which is for manual starting of the air con. If this works, then you will know the remote is faulty, if it still doesn't work, check that the isolator switch for the air con hasn't been turned off. There will be 9Or should be) a switch outside next to the air con outdoor unit to switch power on / off to the air con. If not, there should be switch inside the meter box at the front of the house. Make sure they are switched on.

Air con dead

Larger split system air con gets power from the external unit while smaller air con gets power from the internal unit. Can you find any power switch or power socket/plug around the external or internal units?

I will be installing my air con unit and just wanted to know if i need to consider my neighbour before siting unit for noise etc, as i am considering to site it 2 meters away opposite neighbour's window to...

From my experience mini splits are a very quiet unit. You may need to check local code though, and consult your neighbor first. Better to be proactive over making an enemy.

My Lg split system air con spits water

Make sure the unit is tilted downward at the back. About 1" lower than the front is good. Even with a drain, the water will pool inside if it doesn't have a slope for drainage.
